With the two lowest-level teams off on Sunday, the Blue Jays’ affiliates went 5-1 in six games, getting late wins from Buffalo and New Hampshire.

 

Buffalo Bisons 6, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 5

 

The Buffalo Bisons got all their runs late in the game and were jump started by home runs by Rowdy Tellez and Tim Lopes in the seventh and eighth inning on their way to four runs in the ninth and a 6-5 win over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. Tellez went 2/3 with a walk, and his 11th home run of the year while Lopes was 1/3 with a solo home run and two RBI, getting the second on a sacrifice fly. Dalton Pompey was back in action and went 1/4 and Anthony Alford was 1/4 with a double and two RBI.

Brandon Cumpton went 5 2/3 innings, giving up two runs on four hits with four strikeouts. Taylor Guerrieri allowed two runs on three hits with a walk and one strikeout in 1 1/3 innings and Tim Mayza struck out two in 1 2/3 innings, allowing a run on two hits. Justin Shafer finished the game, getting the final out via a strikeout, picking up his 12 save.

Roster Notes: Roemon Fields and Nick Tepesch were placed on the 7-day DL while Darnell Sweeney was sent outright to Buffalo.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 7, Erie SeaWolves 6

Jon Berti rounded the bases in a hurry in the bottom of the ninth inning to walk off with an inside-the-park home run to give the New Hampshire Fisher Cats a 7-6 win over the Erie SeaWolves. Forrest Wall was a home run away from the cycle, going 3/5 with a double and a triple, driving in three runs and scoring once. Andrew Guillotte also had three hits, going 3/4 with a double, an RBI, two runs and a stolen base. Patrick Cantwell played his first game since coming off the DL, hitting his fourth home run of the season and going 2/4. Bo Bichette was 1/4 with a double and an RBI.

Taylor Saucedo started, allowing six runs (five earned) on 10 hits (including two home runs) with three strikeouts. Dusty Isaacs held the SeaWolves to one hit with three strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings. Travis Bergen got the win, striking out two in 1 1/3 innings.

Dunedin Blue Jays 14, Charlotte Stone Crabs 9

 

The Dunedin Blue Jays brought the thunder, scoring 14 runs and beating the Charlotte Stone Crabs by a 14-9 score. Brock Lundquist (4/6, 2B, 2 RBI, R) and Alberto Mineo (4/5, 2 2B, BB, 4 RBI, 2 R) had four hits each and Rodrigo Orozco (3/5, 2B, RBI, R), Joshua Palacios (3/5, 2B, BB, 3 RBI, 2 R, OF Asst.) and Kevin Smith (3/4, BB, 4 R) had three hits each. Yeltsin Gudino was 2/4 with a walk and a run and Kacy Clemens was 1/5 with a two-run home run and a sac fly.

Maverik Buffo allowed nine runs in four innings, giving up 12 hits, three home runs among them, striking out three. Ty Tice pitched three scoreless innings, allowing two hits and a walk with three strikeouts and Nick Hartman walked two and struck out one in two innings.

Lansing Lugnuts 5, Fort Wayne TinCaps 4

 

The Lansing Lugnuts held off the Fort Wayne TinCaps, first coming back from a 3-1 deficit and scoring an insurance run in the eighth inning to win 5-4. Andres Sotillo was 2/3 with a walk and his second home run of the season, a solo shot while Chad Spanberger was 1/4 with his second home run with the Lugnuts. Vinny Capra and Reggie Pruitt were each 1/4 with Pruitt stealing two bases while Ryan Noda was 1/3 with a walk and two RBI. Samad Taylor was 2/4 with a double, a walk, an RBI, two runs and two stolen bases.

Graham Spraker tossed six innings, giving up three runs on four hits (including two home runs) and a walk with three strikeouts. Matt Shannon allowed a run on three hits with two strikeouts in the final three innings as he secured his sixth save of the season.

Vancouver Canadians 7, Hillsboro Hops 4

 

The Vancouver Canadians continue to feast against the Hillsboro Hops, beating them 7-4 on Sunday. Elio Silva tossed five innings, giving up four runs (two earned) on two hits (including a home run) and two walks with two strikeouts to get the win. Wil McAffer (1 IP, 3 K), Troy Miller (1 IP, 1 BB, 1 K), Fitz Stadler (1 IP, 1 K) and Connor Law (1 IP, 1 H, 1 K, S) each threw a scoreless inning in the win.

Otto Lopez went 3/4 with two runs and a stolen base while Bryan Lizardo (2/4, R), Jake Brodt (2/4, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R) and Mc Gregory Contreras (2/4, 2B, 3B, 3 RBI, R) had two hits each.

Bluefield Blue Jays 6, Danville Braves 8

The Bluefield Blue Jays couldn’t quite match the Danville Braves, losing 8-6 on Sunday. Cal Stevenson was on base five times, missing the cycle by a home run, going 3/3 with a double, triple and two walks, driving in a pair and scoring once while also throwing a runner out at third base from left field. D.J. Neal was 2/4 with two triples, a walk, an RBI and two runs and Patrick Morris had three hits, going 3/5 with a double and two RBI. Rafael Lantigua was 1/3 with two walks and a run, stealing a base. Alejandro Kirk was on base twice, going 1/4 with a double, a walk and an RBI.

Nathanael Perez had a solid start, tossing 73 pitching in four innings and allowing just one run on five hits with a walk and six strikeouts. Josh Almonte allowed a run on a hit and struck out two in the fifth. Nicolas Medina took the loss, giving up four runs (two earned) on four hits with a walk and three strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings and Grant Townsend came in with the bases loaded, allowing a hit and two of the three runners to score but shut things down in the eighth, pitching 1 2/3 innings total with one strikeout. Sean Rackoski gave up two runs on three hits and a walk with one strikeout in the ninth.
