September 23, 2021 Toronto Blue Jays Minor League Report

The Toronto Blue Jays’ minor league affiliates swept Sunday, the final day of the minor league regular season, winning all four games.

Buffalo Bisons 5, Rochester Red Wings (WAS) 1

The Buffalo Bisons’ (71-46) turned things around on the final game of the regular season, heading into the playoffs on a high note, beating the Rochester Red Wings 5-1.

First baseman Tyler White was on base four times, going 2/3 with a double, two walks and two runs. Richard Urena had a pair of hits, going 2/5 with an RBI and Cullen Large was 2/4 with a double. Christian Colon was 2/3 with a sac fly and two RBI. Santiago Espinal was 1/3 and Nash Knight was 1/2 with a run. Gregory Polanco was 1/4 with a double and an RBI and Cavan Biggio was 1/5 with an RBI and two runs.

Lefty Zach Logue allowed an unearned run on five hits with two walks and six strikeouts over four innings of work before the Bisons’ excellent bullpen took over. Kyle Johnston got win, pitching the fifth and only hitting a batter. Kirby Snead gave up two hits and struck out one in his inning and Rafael Dolis allowed two hits and a walk but no runs in the seventh, striking out one. Bryan Baker struck out one in the eighth and A.J. Cole gave up a hit and struck out one in the ninth.

Roster Notes: Tayler Saucedo was recalled by the Blue Jays.

The Buffalo Bisons got an extra-innings win on Thursday as their final week (and playoff tuneup) continues.

Buffalo Bisons 0, Lehigh Valley IronPigs 3

The Buffalo Bisons’ (72-47) walked it off in 10 innings, getting an RBI single from Gregory Polanco that scored Nash Knight to beat the Lehigh Valley IronPigs 5-4.

Polanco was 2/5 with a double and the game-winning RBI while Christian Colon was 2/4 with two RBI. Santiago Espinal was 2/4 with a double and an RBI and Cavan Biggio was 1/3 with two walks and an RBI. Tyler White was 1/3 with a walk and Juan Graterol was 1/4 with a run. Nash Knight was 0/3 but walked and scored twice.

Lefty Nick Allgeyer had one of his best games in a while, allowing just one run on a hit and three walks in five innings, striking out three. Fitz Stadler allowed two solo home runs and struck out one in the sixth and Hobie Harris walked one in the seventh. Dany Jimenez allowed a walk and struck out one in the eighth and Trent Thornton allowed an unearned run on two hits in the ninth. Jacob Barnes got the win, pitching a scoreless 10th, striking out one.

Roster Notes: Tayler Saucedo was optioned to Buffalo and Thomas Hatch was recalled by the Blue Jays.
