September 22, 2021 Toronto Blue Jays Minor League Report

The Toronto Blue Jays’ minor league affiliates swept Sunday, the final day of the minor league regular season, winning all four games.

Buffalo Bisons 5, Rochester Red Wings (WAS) 1

The Buffalo Bisons’ (71-46) turned things around on the final game of the regular season, heading into the playoffs on a high note, beating the Rochester Red Wings 5-1.

First baseman Tyler White was on base four times, going 2/3 with a double, two walks and two runs. Richard Urena had a pair of hits, going 2/5 with an RBI and Cullen Large was 2/4 with a double. Christian Colon was 2/3 with a sac fly and two RBI. Santiago Espinal was 1/3 and Nash Knight was 1/2 with a run. Gregory Polanco was 1/4 with a double and an RBI and Cavan Biggio was 1/5 with an RBI and two runs.

Lefty Zach Logue allowed an unearned run on five hits with two walks and six strikeouts over four innings of work before the Bisons’ excellent bullpen took over. Kyle Johnston got win, pitching the fifth and only hitting a batter. Kirby Snead gave up two hits and struck out one in his inning and Rafael Dolis allowed two hits and a walk but no runs in the seventh, striking out one. Bryan Baker struck out one in the eighth and A.J. Cole gave up a hit and struck out one in the ninth.

Roster Notes: Tayler Saucedo was recalled by the Blue Jays.

The Buffalo Bisons were the only club in action and they lost the first game of their final week.

Buffalo Bisons 0, Lehigh Valley IronPigs 3

The Buffalo Bisons’ (71-47) dropped their first game of the final week of the season, falling 3-0 to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

The Bisons had five singles the club including Forrest Wall (1/3), Tyler White (1/2), Otto Lopez (1/2), Cullen Large (1/2) and Richard Urena (1/2).

Lefty Anthony Kay started after getting reinstated from the COVID IL and allowed a solo home run in the first inning. Casey Lawrence threw five innings, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks with two strikeouts and Travis Bergen walked one and struck out two in the seventh in the rain-shortened game.

Roster Notes: Mallex Smith was activated off the injured list and Anthony Kay was activated off the COVID IL and optioned to Buffalo. Kevin Smith was recalled by the Toronto Blue Jays.
