July 8, 2019 Toronto Blue Jays Minor League Report

The Blue Jays’ affiliates played five games as the All-Star Break took hold in the majors and at the top two levels of the minor leagues with the clubs going 2-3 and the Lansing Lugnuts taking a loss despite a solid start by Eric Pardihno.

Dunedin Blue Jays 4, Tampa Tarpons (NYY) 3

 

Kevin Vicuna

The Dunedin Blue Jays took it to the 10th inning and beat the Tampa Tarpons 4-3 with a run in the top of the 10th.

Kevin Vicuna was 2/5 with a stolen base and a run while Norberto Obeso was 2/4 with a double, an RBI and a run. Jesus Navarro was 1/3 with a triple, two RBI and a sac fly. Chavez Young was 1/3 with a walk and a run, stealing a base. Dalton Pompey continued his rehab and was 0/4 with a walk.

Jason Adam continued his rehab and threw two scoreless innings, walking one and striking out three. Turner Larkins allowed three runs on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts in three innings. Graham Spraker took over, striking out one in the sixth while Emerson Jimenez walked one and struck out one in the seventh. Jackson Rees pitched two innings, allowing a hit and striking out two in two scoreless innings and Brad Wilson came out with the save, striking out the side in the 10th for his ninth save.

Roster Notes: Jason Adam and Dalton Pompey were sent to Dunedin to continue rehab assignments.

 

Lansing Lugnuts 0, Lake County Captains (CLE) 2

 

Eric Pardinho

The Lansing Lugnuts were held to just four hits in a 2-0 shutout loss to the Lake County Captains.

Eric Pardinho had a strong start, needing 76 pitches (but only 42 were strikes) to go five innings, allowing a run on four hits and a walk with five strikeouts to take the loss. Fitz Stadler finished the game, giving up another run on four hits and a walk with five strikeouts in three innings.

Griffin Conine (1/3, HBP), John Aiello (1/4, 2B), Reggie Pruitt (1/4) and Rafael Lantigua (1/3, 2B) each had a hit while Otto Lopez was 0/2 with a sac bunt, a stolen base and was hit by a pitch but he also made his 20th error of the year.

Vancouver Canadians 3, Everett AquaSox (SEA) 7

 

Another game, and another loss for the Vancouver Canadians as they fell to 6-19 with a 7-3 loss to the Everett AquaSox.

Philip Clarke continues to smash as he went 3/5 with a double and a run for the Canadians. Cameron Eden was 2/5 with a double and a run while Trevor Schwecke (1/4, 2B, RBI, HBP) and Luis De Los Santos (1/3, 2B) each had a hit and Davis Schneider was 0/3 with an RBI.

Adam Kloffenstein had a strong start, allowing just one hit in 4 2/3 innings, but walked four and struck out three. Andy McGuire allowed three runs on two hits and a walk in 2 1/3 innings, striking out one and Josh Almonte allowed three runs on two hits and two walks, throwing two wild pitches with three strikeouts in the eighth. Luke Gillingham allowed an unearned run on two walks with two strikeouts in the ninth.

Roster Notes: Dom Abbadessa was activated off the injured list.

 

Bluefield Blue Jays 4, Princeton Rays (TB) 8

 

The Bluefield Blue Jays fell 8-4 to the Princeton Rays.

Jol Concepcion allowed four runs but only two were earned as he allowed eight hits and two walks in four innings to take the loss. Kyle Huckaby allowed two more runs in the fifth inning, giving up a walk and two hits while Naswell Paulino allowed two runs in the final three innings, allowing four hits and two walks with five strikeouts.

Miguel Hiraldo was 2/5 with a solo home run while Joseph Reyes went deep in his third consecutive game, going 1/4 with a solo blast. Addison Barger was 2/4 with a run and Steward Berroa was 1/3 with a walk, an RBI, a run and a stolen base. Eric Rivera was 1/5 with an RBI and Spencer Horwitz was 1/4 with an outfield assist.

GCL Blue Jays, GCL Yankees East

 

Game postponed due to rain.

 

DSL Blue Jays 6, DSL White Sox 4

 

The Blue Jays scored two runs in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings and wound up beating the DSL White Sox 6-4.

Leonel Callez led the offense, going 3/4 with an RBI and a run, stealing a base while Adrian Montero was 1/4 with a stolen base and a run and Glenn Santiago was 1/4 with an RBI.

Juanfer Castro allowed no runs on four hits and three walks in 5 2/3 innings, striking out five while Joneivy Polonia allowed two runs on two hits with two walks in one inning and Bejardi Meza gave up two runs on a hit and two walks in 2 1/3 innings, striking out two to earn the save.
