With four games on the go, the Blue Jays’ affiliates won three games, getting some big-time performances from a couple of prospects in Triple-A Buffalo who are looking more and more ready for The Show as the season wears on.
Buffalo Bisons 5, Durham Bulls 3
Between Sean-Reid-Foley’s dominance on the mound and Danny Jansen‘s dominance at the plate, the Buffalo Bisons had plenty in the tank to beat the Durham Bulls 5-3. Jansen went 2/3 with a walk, two home runs, and three RBI in the win and Rowdy Tellez continued his hot streak, going 3/4 with a double and an RBI. Dalton Pompey was 2/4 with a walk, a run and an RBI and Gunnar Heidt was 1/3 with a walk and a run.
Reid-Foley went six innings, giving up only two hits and a walk with seven strikeouts to pick up his seventh win to show for his time in Buffalo. Jose Fernandez gave the club two innings of hitless relief, striking out two and Craig Breslow gave up two runs (one earned) on one hit in 1/3 of an inning before Justin Shafer locked it down but not before allowing both inherited runners to score and giving up a run on two hits of his own. He struck out one in 2/3 of an inning.

Lansing Lugnuts 5, Cedar Rapids Kernels 8
The Lansing Lugnuts kept the game close for most of it but couldn’t mount a comeback when the game was getting into its late stages, losing 8-5 to the Cedar Rapids Kernels. Ryan Gold hit his first home run in the Midwest League, going 2/4 with a double, an RBI and two runs. Samad Taylor drove in two runs, going 2/5 with a triple. Ryan Noda was 1/3 with a walk and Reilly Johnson was 1/4 with two RBI. Freddy Rodriguez and Reggie Pruitt were each 1/3 with a walk and a run.
Matt Gunter threw three innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Brody Rodning allowed two runs on six hits with a strikeout in two innings and Emerson Jimenez came off the DL to pitch a clean sixth, striking out one. Matt Shannon allowed a run on five hits and two walks over the final three innings.

Roster Notes: The Lansing Lugnuts activated Emerson Jimenez off the 7-day DL and sent Yunior Hinojosa back to the GCL Blue Jays.

Vancouver Canadians 5, Hillsboro Hops 3
The Vancouver Canadians took a lead in the bottom of the sixth inning and didn’t let go, beating the Hillboro Hops 5-3 and pushing their record back over .500. Randy Pondler was on the mound, giving up three runs on six hits and three walks over six innings, striking out four to get his first Northwest League win. Fitz Stadler gave up three hits over two innings but those hits didn’t amount to a run as he struck out two. Nick Allgeyer got the save, striking out two of his three batters in the ninth.
Nick Podkul hit his second home run of the season, going 1/3 with a walk while Sterling Guzman was 2/4 with a run and a stolen base. Brandon Polizzi was on base three times, going 1/2 with a double, two walks and an RBI, stealing two bases and Otto Lopez also stole two bases, going 1/3 with a walk and a run.

Bluefield Blue Jays 6, Pulaski Yankees 4
The Bluefield Blue Jays came up with another late rally to beat the Pulaski Yankees after scoring two in the bottom of the eighth inning to go ahead for good 6-4. Catcher Andres Guerra was a big part of that two-run eighth, hitting a solo home run, and going 1/4 with his second blast of the year. Cal Stevenson was 4/5 with a double, a triple, an RBI, two runs and a stolen base while D.J. Neal was 2/4 with a triple, two RBI and a stolen base. Luis De Los Santos was 1/3 with a walk and a run and Dominic Abbadessa was 1/5 with a double, a stolen base and a run.
Eric Pardinho needed 54 pitches to get through three innings and gave up just two hits and a walk with five strikeouts on the day. Josh Almonte allowed two runs (one earned) on a hit and two walks, striking out three in two innings. Mike Pascoe gave up two runs on two hits and a walk with one strikeout in the sixth and Nicolas Medina got the win, allowing just two hits with three strikeouts in two innings. Sean Rackoski picked up his sixth save, allowing a hit and striking out a batter in an inning.
