The Blue Jays had six minor league affiliates active and got four wins in a day that saw the league’s top prospect have his best day thus far in a Buffalo Bisons uniform.

 

Buffalo Bisons 0, Gwinnett Stripers 2

 

The Buffalo Bisons hosted the Gwinnett Stripers and, despite solid performances from two of the Jays’ top prospects and out-hitting the Stripers, the club lost 2-0. Sean Reid-Foley was on the hill and used 93 pitches to get through five innings, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks with eight strikeouts. Murphy Smith allowed just a hit and struck out four in three innings and Craig Breslow gave up a hit and struck out on in 1/3 of an inning. Conor Fisk struck out one in 2/3 of an inning to finish up.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was 3/4 but the club, also making an excellent defensive play at third base while Rowdy Tellez was 2/4 and Tim Lopes was 2/4 with the team’s only extra-base hit, a double.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 8, Bowie Baysox 3

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, who held a two-game lead over the Trenton Thunder for first place in the Eastern League Eastern Division coming into their game on Tuesday, ensured that they’d have that two-game lead following the game as they defeated the Bowie Baysox 8-3. The Vlad-less Fisher Cats combined for 14 hits, getting three each from Bo Bichette (3/5, R) and Harold Ramirez (3/5, 2 2B, 3 RBI, 2 R) while Max Pentecost (2/3, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 SF) and Gunnar Heidt (2/5, HR, RBI, R) had two each. Andrew Guillotte joined Heidt by hitting a home run, going 1/3 with two RBI, adding a sac fly and Jon Berti was 1/4 with a walk and a run. Santiago Espinal walked three times, scoring a run.

Jon Harris threw five decent innings, giving up three runs on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Zach Jackson walked one and struck out two in two innings and Corey Copping pitched two scoreless frames to finish the game.

Dunedin Blue Jays 8, Daytona Tortugas 9

The Dunedin Blue Jays made it close, scoring three runs in the top of the eighth to get within one run but ended up losing 9-8 to the Daytona Tortugas. Patrick Murphy hit 100 mph on the radar gun but only lasted 2 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on three hits with three walks and four strikeouts, getting squeezed by the umpire. Nick Hartman was charged with five runs on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings. Claudio Custodio allowed a run on five hits and two walks with one strikeout in 2 1/3 innings and Jake Fishman finished the game, allowing a hit and a walk with a strikeout in 1 1/3 innings.

Riley Adams led the hit parade with three hits, going 3/5 with a double, an RBI and a run while Joshua Palacios was 2/3 with a double, two walks and two runs. Ivan Castillo was 2/6 with a double and two RBI and Logan Warmoth was on base twice, going 1/5 with a walk, an RBI and a run. Brock Lundquist was 1/4 with a walk, two RBI, a double and a run and Nash Knight was 1/4 with a walk. Kevin Smith had one hit but it was his 14th home run of the year for the D-Jays.

Bluefield Blue Jays 9, Greeneville Reds 5

The Bluefield Blue Jays continued their domination of the Greeneville Reds, beating them 9-5 on Tuesday. Cal Stevenson‘s dream season continues as well as he went 2/3 with a home run, two walks, two RBI, and two runs. Gabriel Moreno had two hits, going 2/5 with a double, an RBI and two runs and Luis De Los Santos was 2/5 with a double, three RBI and a run. Patrick Morris was 1/3 with two walks and a run and Hagen Danner was 1/3 with a walk, an RBI, a run and sac fly. Davis Schneider and Rafael Lantigua were each 1/4 with a walk and a run and Schneider added an RBI.

Troy Watson tossed five strong innings, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk with five strikeouts to pick up his third win. Jackson Rees allowed three runs on five hits (including a home run) with one strikeout in two innings and Andy McGuire got the save, throwing two innings and allowing a hit with one strikeout.

GCL Blue Jays 11, GCL Phillies West 5

The GCL Blue Jays saw Jordan Groshans return to the lineup but leave again after two at bats in an 11-5 win over the GCL Phillies West. Groshans’s replacement, Yhordegny Kelly, was 2/2 with a triple, an RBI and a run while Joseph Reyes was 2/5 with a double, an RBI and a run. Warnel Valdez had two hits, going 2/5 with two runs while Steward Berroa was 1/4 with a walk, a triple, three RBI and a run and Addison Barger was 1/3 with a walk, an RBI, a triple, two runs and a sacrifice fly. Adrian Ramos was 1/3 with a walk, a triple, three RBI and a run. Francisco Ruiz was also on base twice, going 1/3 with a walk and two runs.

Rehabbing Francisco Rios allowed three runs (one earned), giving up just two walks in 1 1/3 innings and Williams Moreno came on in the second, getting two outs but allowing his inherited runner to score as well as a run of his own, walking two and giving up a hit. Juan Diaz allowed a run on five hits over 3 2/3 innings, striking out three and Brayan Mejia picked him up, tossing 2 1/3 innings of one-hit ball, striking out one. Elixon Caballero gave up a hit and struck out one in the ninth.

DSL Blue Jays 9, DSL White Sox 6

 

With four runs in the top of the eighth inning, the DSL Blue Jays came back to beat the DSL White Sox (whose record now slips to 13-43) with a 9-6 win on Tuesday. First baseman Pedro Hurtado put the hurt on the White Sox, going 3/5 with a double and a run while Jhon Solarte was on base twice, going 1/4 with a walk, two RBI and two runs. Alberto Rodriguez was 1/4 with a walk and an RBI, getting an outfield assist but was picked off and caught stealing. Hanley Acevedo walked twice, drove in a run and scored and Erickvi Celedonio walked twice and scored twice. Miguel Hiraldo was 1/5 with an RBI and a run but also committed his 20th error of the year.

Ronald Govea was hit fairly hard for a change, giving up six runs on 10 hits with three strikeouts in four innings. Junior Guzman got the win, allowing just three hits and striking out one in the final five innings.
