Several Blue Jays were in the news today as we round up the mostly minor headlines.
Our first item of news is that Chad Jenkins cleared waivers and was sent outright to Buffalo. Jenkins was designated for assignment to make room on the Blue Jays’ 40-man roster for newly signed Gavin Floyd who penned a major league deal with the club.
The fact that Jenkins cleared waivers wasn’t a huge surprise but, I think that most people feel that he really hasn’t been given much of a chance to show what he’s got as he’s ridden the QEW for most of the last three years as a Blue Jay.
News, part deux, comes from the minor league signing camp. Ben Nicholson-Smith, with his ear to the ground, reported that lefty Colt Hynes has re-upped with the Jays, after testing free agency, and signed a minor league deal.

News, part trois, is from Baseball America who released their Top 100 prospects list Friday night. They named Blue Jay Anthony Alford as the #25 prospect in baseball. Add that to his #42 ranking by MLB.com and at #44 in Baseball Prospectus’s listing of their Top 101. Like on MLB.com’s list, Alford was the only Blue Jays prospect to rank in the Baseball America Top 100 but Conner Greene squeaked into BP’s list at #100 for BP.
Bonus news! Former Blue Jays lefty Sean Nolin was designated for assignment on Friday by the Oakland Athletics. Nolin was part of the deal that brought AL MVP Josh Donaldson to Toronto.
