The Blue Jays’ farm clubs went 2-2 on Wednesday, getting wins from Buffalo and Lansing and losses from New Hampshire and Dunedin.

 

Buffalo Bisons 2, Columbus Clippers 0

 

Chris Leroux had one of his best starts with Buffalo, contributing seven innings towards a 2-0 shutout of the Columbus Clippers. Leroux allowed only five hits and struck out three without walking a man, needing 95 pitches (with 66 strikes) to get through seven complete innings. Ryan Tepera didn’t allow a hit and struck out two, earning a two-inning save.

The offense didn’t do much, but they didn’t need to, contributing just five hits towards their two runs. Dalton Pompey was 2/4 with a double while Junior Lake his his fourth home run, a solo shot in the fifth inning.

Roster Notes: Devon Travis was activated after his rehab stint and Pat Venditte was sent down to the Bisons.

 

 

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 4, Trenton Thunder 6

 

The Trenton Thunder scored six runs early off of starter Casey Lawrence and then held on as the Fisher Cats managed to score four runs in a 6-4 loss. Lawrence allowed six runs over the first two innings but added another four scoreless frames, bringing his box score to read six innings with eight hits, six runs (all earned), one walk, four strikeouts and one home run allowed. Jason Berken finished the game, allowing one hit in two innings.

Dwight Smith, Jr. had another great game, going 2/4 with a two-run home run. Jorge Flores was 2/3 with a walk. Rowdy Tellez was 1/5 with a run and Ian Parmley was 1/3 with a walk.

Dunedin Blue Jays 5, Lakeland Flying Tigers 12

 

The Dunedin Blue Jays had a solid offensive showing but unfortunately the Lakeland Flying Tigers scored 12 runs, defeating the Blue Jays by a seven-run margin. Conner Greene was touched for seven runs but all were unearned. A Richard Urena throwing error opened the doors to two runs in the first inning while a fielding error, also by Urena, followed by a fielding error by Anthony Alford in the third inning paved the way to another five runs. Greene ended up with the seven runs on six hits with just one walk and four strikeouts in three innings. Conor Fisk was charged with five earned runs over four innings, giving up seven hits and striking out five. Brad Allen was the only unscathed pitcher, striking out two and walking one in two hitless innings.

Jonathan Davis had a fantastic day, coming a home run short of the cycle, driving in two, scoring two and adding a stolen base. D.J. Davis drove in a run, going 1/4 2ith a double while L.B. Dantzler also hit a double. Richard Urena was 1/4 with two runs and a stolen base to go with his two errors.

Roster Notes: Aaron Attaway was promoted from Lansing to Dunedin.

 

Lansing Lugnuts 5, Fort Wayne TinCaps 2

 

The Fort Wayne TinCaps tried to catch up to the Lansing Lugnuts with two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning but it was too little, too late as the Lugnuts rode a strong start from Ryan Borucki to a 5-2 victory. Borucki allowed just five hits and two walks in six scoreless innings while striking out six in his best start of the year. Patrick Murphy earned the save, throwing three innings of two-run ball, giving up three hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

The Lugnuts spread out their offense, getting eight hits from eight different players, with Lane Thomas the only Lugnut not to get a hit (and he struck out three times). Ryan Hissey, Josh Almonte and Carl Wise hit doubles.

Roster Notes: Aaron Attaway was promoted to Dunedin and Austin Davis was activated off the DL.
