With three games on the docket for the Blue Jays’ minor leaguers, the clubs came away with a win and two losses, seeing an MVP regain his hitting stroke and a big leaguer on the comeback trail take no prisoners.

Buffalo Bisons 7, Pawtucket Red Sox 5

 

Rehabbing Devon Travis continued to swing the bat well after he was assigned to the Buffalo Bisons and helped them beat the Pawtucket Red Sox by a 7-5 score. Travis played second base and was 3/4 with a double, two RBI and a run while Jesus Montero was 2/4 with a double and an RBI. Domonic Brown was 1/3 with a home run and a walk while Junior Lake was 1/3 with a double, a walk, two runs and an outfield assist.

Chris Leroux started the game, allowing five runs on six hits and three walks over five innings but with six strikeouts. The bullpen was outstanding in closing out the win: Colt Hynes threw two one-hit innings while Ben Rowen (1 IP) and Dustin Antolin (1 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K, S) finished off the game.

Dunedin Blue Jays 4, Fort Myers Miracle 5

 

The Dunedin Blue Jays scored two runs in the first and two in the third but couldn’t score for the next nine innings as they dropped the closing game of their series with the Fort Myers Miracle by a 5-4 score in 12 innings. Ryan McBroom had a monster game, going 4/6 with two doubles and two RBI, raising his batting average to .274 on the season. L.B. Dantzler was 2/4 with a double and Jonathan Davis was 1/5 with a two-run home run.

Justin Shafer had a solid start, throwing five innings with three runs allowed on six hits and two walks, striking out three. Aaron Loup had his best rehab outing to date, throwing a scoreless innings without walking anyone while giving up a hit and striking out one. Colton Turner threw another scoreless inning, striking out the side around a walk in the seventh while Tim Mayza took a blown save by giving up a solo home run in the eighth inning and pitching two more, giving up three hits and striking out four over three innings. Alonzo Gonzalez pitched two innings, taking the loss after giving up a solo home run in the 12th inning, giving up three hits and a walk with three strikeouts.

Lansing Lugnuts 4, Fort Wayne TinCaps 5

 

The Lansing Lugnuts lost the last game of their series against the Fort Wayne TinCaps 5-4 as an error by Gunnar Heidt proved costly. Angel Perdomo allowed three runs in the second inning but none were earned as shortstop Gunnar Heidt made a fielding error that extended the inning and three runs scored on a triple by the next batter. Perdomo allowed four hits and two walks with five strikeouts over four innings. Gustavo Pierre allowed two runs on two hits in two innings and Daniel Lietz pitched two scoreless innings (although he allowed a runner, inherited from Pierre, to score), giving up one hit and a walk with a strikeout.

The Lugnuts only had five hits, getting a triple and an RBI from Heidt while Juan Kelly drove in two with two sacrifice flies and a walk. Lane Thomas hit a double, as did Justin Atkinson.
