The Blue Jays’ affiliates won two of their three games and got a stellar pitching performance in a 1-0 loss by the Buffalo Bisons.

 

Buffalo Bisons 0, Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs 1

 

The Buffalo Bisons’ offense let down Justin Dillon who just returned from Dunedin to pitch a stellar game, losing 1-0 to the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs. Dillon went six innings, throwing 82 pitches and he struck out 10 batters with just one walk, giving up an unearned run on just three hits to take the loss. Danny Barnes struck out two in his inning of work and Al Alburquerque pitched a scoreless eighth.

The Bisons got three hits with a double each from Tim Lopes and Dwight Smith Jr. and a single and a walk from Devon Travis.

Roster Notes: Dalton Pompey was optioned to Buffalo with the Blue Jays activating Gio Urshela and Justin Dillon was sent to Buffalo to help bolster their pitching ranks.

Dunedin Blue Jays 2, Fort Myers Miracle 1

 

Juliandry Higuera

The Dunedin Blue Jays won their second straight one-run game against the Fort Myers Miracle, beating them 2-1 on Saturday. A quartet of pitchers served to shut down the Miracle offense, with Juliandry Higuera allowing only one hit with one walk and a striking out over the first three innings and Matthew Gunter giving up just a walk with three strikeouts over four frames. Conner Eller was tagged for a run over 1 2/3 innings, blowing the save and Ty Tice came in to get the final out and earned the win in the walk-off victory.

In the end it was Joshua Palacios who singled home the winning run in the bottom of the ninth after John La Prise hit a one-out single and Nash Knight got on on a fielding error. Palacios was 1/4 with a walk and an RBI while Eduard Pinto was 2/4 with a run. Bradley Jones was 1/3 with a double and a walk, driving in one run and Logan Warmoth was 1/4.

Roster Notes: Matthew Gunter and Joel Espinal were added to the Dunedin Blue Jays roster and Justin Dillon was sent up to Buffalo.

Lansing Lugnuts 8, Beloit Snappers 6

The Lansing Lugnut struck again, scoring eight runs on 12 hits to beat the Beloit Snappers 8-6. Kevin Smith continued his torrid hitting, going 3/5 with two doubles, an RBI and a run, adding his ninth stolen base of the year. Chavez Young went 2/6 with a double, two RBI, a run and a stolen base while Samad Taylor was 2/5 with a double. Matt Morgan was 1/4 with a walk and a run while Brock Lundquist hit his seventh home run of the year, going 1/4 with a walk and Christian Williams was 1/4 with a walk.

Zach Logue went 4 1/3 innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on five hits and a walk with five strikeouts while Matt Shannon got the win, despite giving up three runs on six hits with one strikeout over two innings. Shannon got the win because Logue was ineligible and Brody Rodning was awarded the save, tossing 2 2/3 innings, allowing one run on three hits with one strikeout.
