Buffalo Bisons 2, Rochester Red Wings 6

Drew Hutchison must have decided that the fans calling for his promotion to Toronto to pitch out of the bullpen created a jinx as he had one of his poorer outings of the year in a 6-2 Buffalo loss. Hutchison’s start wasn’t all that bad as he still struck out seven batters in five innings but allowed four runs (three earned) on nine hits and one one walk. Chad Jenins allowed a run in his inning of work, giving up a solo home run while Bo Schultz allowed a run on two hits in his inning. Ryan Tepera, by now accustomed to the QEW, threw a perfect ninth.

Casey Kotchman provided all of the offense getting two of the club’s three hits and both were solo home runs. Dalton Pompey had the other hit, going 1/3 with a walk and a stolen base.

Player of the Game: Casey Kotchman

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 1, Reading Fightin Phils 2

It was all pitching on Monday in Reading, PA as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats got outdueled in a 2-1 match. Jeremy Gabryszwski went six innings, allowing both runs (one earned) on five hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Murphy Smith went two scoreless innings to finish the game, walking one and striking out one.

Jason Leblebijian continued his hitting in Double-A, going 2/4 while Matt Dean provided the run with a solo blast.

DSL Blue Jays 4, DSL D-backs 6

The DSL Blue Jays learned the hard way how important defense is when a single error by Anderson Green led to six unearned runs in the seventh inning and that was enough to give the DSL D-backs a 6-4 win over the Jays. Jose Dominguez allowed just four runner through the first three innings, giving up two hits and two walks, striking out three. Luis Mendoza followed with three even better innings, giving up one hit and striking out two. Emmanuel Reyes faced three batters and didn’t get anyone out, allowing two hits and a walk to load the bases. Oscar Brito came in and got a strikeout but the next batter hit a ball to Anderson Green. Green couldn’t make the play and a run scored. The next batter grounded out, driving in another run and the following batter walked. Then, with two outs, Brito served up a grand slam to Mailon Arroyo, clearing the bases. Brito continued to pitch two more scoreless innings, and none were earned but the damage had been done.

Yorman Rodriguez had two hits for the Blue Jays and Yhordegny Kelly was 1/3 with a double and two walks. Cristian Peguero was 1/3 with an RBI and a walk.

Player of the Game: Luis Mendoza and Yhordegny Kelly
