June 22, 2019 Toronto Blue Jays Minor League Report

TJ Zeuch

The Blue Jays’ affiliates went 4-3 in seven games as the Buffalo Bisons, New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Dunedin Blue Jays and Bluefield Blue Jays brought home wins.

 

 

Buffalo Bisons 3, Norfolk Tides (BAL) 0

 

After allowing just one run in 14 innings to the Norfolk Tides in their double header on Friday, the Buffalo Bisons got another shutout over the Tides, winning 3-0 in T.J. Zeuch‘s Triple-A debut.

Zeuch needed 93 pitches to go 5 2/3 innings, allowing only two hits and one walk with four strikeouts for the win. Zach Jackson struck out two in 1 1/3 innings and Buddy Boshers struck out one in the eighth with Justin Shafer striking out two more in the ninth for the save.

Bo Bichette was 2/4 with a double while Roemon Fields was 1/2 with a double and a walk. Socrates Brito and Anthony Alford were each 1/4 with a run and a stolen base while Jonathan Davis was 0/2 but walked twice and stole a base. Patrick Kivlehan hit a solo home run in the fourth inning and Richard Urena was 1/4 with an RBI. Reese McGuire was 0/3 but walked and drove in a run.

Roster Notes: Dusty Isaacs was placed on the temporarily inactive list while T.J. Zeuch was promoted to the Bisons.

 



 

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 8, Trenton Thunder (NYY) 3

 

Justin Dillon

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats beat the Trenton Thunder 8-3 with a strong relief outing from Justin Dillon to keep the Thunder at bay.

Yennsy Diaz had a solid start, going five innings with three runs allowed on four hits and three walks, striking out six before Dillon allowed just two hits and a walk with three strikeouts in the final four innings to earn the save.

The Fisher Cats managed to score their eight runs on only six hits and two walks, getting a double from Vinny Capra (1/3, BB, 2 R), Forrest Wall (1/4, RBI, R) and Chad Spanberger (1/4). Kevin Smith was 1/4 with an RBI and a run and Christian Williams and Brock Lundquist drove in two runs each, both going 1/4 with Williams hitting a triple. Joshua Palacios was 0/2 but hit a sac fly and scored and Santiago Espinal was 0/3 with an RBI and a run as both players were hit by a pitch.

Roster Notes: Nate Pearson was placed on the 7-day IL retroactive to June 20 while Justin Dillon was promoted to New Hampshire from Dunedin.

 

Dunedin Blue Jays 3, Palm Beach Cardinals (STL) 2

 

Nick Allgeyer

Strong pitching from the Dunedin Blue Jays got them a win as they only had three hits in a 3-2 win over the Palm Beach Cardinals.

Starter Nick Allgeyer scattered five hits and two walks over six innings, striking out two to get the win while Connor Law allowed two runs on three hits and two walks in just 1/3 of an inning. Brad Wilson came on to dominate with the bases loaded, striking out four and getting the final eight batters in the game to lock down the save in 2 2/3 innings.

Demi Orimoloye hit his fourth home run of the year, going 1/3 with a solo blast and drove in two on the night. Chavez Young was 1/4 with a run and Kacy Clemens was 1/3 while Alejandro Kirk was 0/3 but walked and scored.

Roster Notes: Justin Dillon was promoted to New Hampshire from Dunedin and T.J. Zeuch was promoted to Buffalo. Nick Podkul and Josh Winckowski were promoted from Lansing to Dunedin.

 

Lansing Lugnuts 1, Dayton Dragons (CIN) 4

 

The Lansing Lugnuts couldn’t muster much offense, allowing four runs in the sixth and falling 4-1 to the Dayton Dragons.

Fitz Stadler‘s start was wasted as he allowed only a hit and a walk with three strikeouts in five innings of work. Cobi Johnson allowed four runs on six hits with four strikeouts in the final three innings to take the loss.

Otto Lopez had a pair of hits, going 2/3 with a walk and a run while Rafael Lantigua was 1/4 with a stolen base and Hunter Steinmetz was 1/3 with a walk. Ryan Gold drove in the Lugnuts’ only run with a sac fly.

Roster Notes: Cobi Johnson was activated off the IL and Josh Winckowski and Nick Podkul were promoted to Dunedin. Juan Nunez was promoted to Lansing from Vancouver

 

Vancouver Canadians 1, Hillsboro Hops (ARI) 3

 

The Vancouver Canadians fell 3-1 to the Hillsboro Hops.

The Canadians had just six hits including two from Luis De Los Santos while Will Robertson (1/3, BB), Mc Gregory Contreras (1/4, 2B), Dom Abbaessa (1/4, 3B, R) and Davis Schneider (1/3, 2B, SF, RBI) had one each.

William Gaston allowed only a run but allowed a solo home run among three hits with four walks and one strikeout in 5 2/3 innings. Grayson Huffman allowed two runs on two hits and a walk with one strikeout in 1 1/3 innings and Luke Gillingham struck out one in the eighth.

Roster Notes: Parker Caracci was assigned to Vancouver from the GCL roster and Juan Nunez was promoted to Lansing.

 

Bluefield Blue Jays 12, Pulaski Yankees (NYY) 5

 

The Bluefield Blue Jays beat up on the Pulaski Yankees, winning 12-5 on Saturday.

Angel Camacho blasted his first professional home run, missing a cycle by a triple and going 4/5 with a double, four RBI and a run. D.J. Daniels was 3/5 with a home run and a double, driving in two and scoring three times while Addison Barger was 2/6 with a home run, an RBI and two runs. Steward Berroa was 2/5 with a double and a run and Eric Rivera was 2/5 with two RBI, a run and a stolen base, adding a sac fly. Joseph Reyes was 1/3 with a walk and two runs, getting hit by a pitch.

Alejandro Melean went 2 2/3 innings, allowing four unearned runs on two hits and four walks with three strikeouts and Yunior Hinojosa gave up just one walk over 3 1/3 innings, striking out five to get the win. Luis Alvarez allowed a run on two hits with two strikeouts in two innings and Kyle Huckaby struck out two in the ninth.

DSL Blue Jays 2, DSL Reds 4

 

The DSL Blue Jays ended up losing 4-2 to the DSL Reds, getting just two hits in the whole game.

Daniel Oliva and Juan Pizarro each had a single and a walk with Oliva coming in to score and Pizarro getting a stolen base. Junior Ramos drove in a run with a sac fly and Amell Brazoban scored the other run, going 0/3 with a walk.

Yaifer Perdomo allowed three runs in four innings, giving up four hits and a walk with a strikeout while Joneivy Polonia allowed a run on three hits with a strikeout in one inning. Bejardi Meza walked two in three scoreless innings, striking out two.
