The New Hampshire Fisher Cats were rained out and the Lansing Lugnuts continued their roll, winning big against Dayton. Both Buffalo and Dunedin lost their games.

 

Buffalo Bisons 4, Charlotte Knights 10

The Buffalo Bisons opened their series at home against the Charlotte Knights with a 10-4 loss on Friday. Deck McGuire pitched 4 2/3 innings, striking out six but allowing four runs on three hits and three walks. He left with two outs in the fifth and Murphy Smith, coming in with two runners on, allowed both to score and gave up two runs of his own in 2 1/3 innings, giving up four hits with two strikeouts. Dusty Isaacs gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits and a walk in two innings.

Roemon Fields had another three-hit game, going 3/4 with a run and his 10th stolen base while Anthony Alford went 2/5 with a double and a run. Tim Lopes was 1/2 with two walks and Ian Parmley drove in a run, going 1/4. Reese McGuire drove in a run, going 0/1 with a walk, hit-by-pitch and a sacrifice fly. Lourdes Gurriel came out of the game after two at bats and Danny Jansen contributed, driving in two runs, going 1/4 with a walk.

L: Deck McGuire (3-2)

Roster Notes: Dwight Smith Jr. and Jake Petricka were optioned to Buffalo with Randal Grichuk coming up to Toronto and getting activated off the DL. Tim Mayza was also recalled by Toronto.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Binghamton Rumble Ponies

 

Postponed due to rain.

Roster Notes: Drew Muren was placed on the DL and Travis Bergen was promoted from Dunedin to New Hampshire. Nick Hartman was sent back to Dunedin from New Hampshire.

 

Dunedin Blue Jays 3, Tampa Tarpons 6

The Tampa Tarpons got to Tayler Saucedo, scoring four times in the first three innings on their way to a 6-3 win over the Dunedin Blue Jays on Friday. Despite the four runs, only one was earned as Saucedo allowed four hits and a walk through 2 1/3 innings. Jonathan Cheshire took over for the rest of the third, allowing a hit and a walk but no runs. Yennsy Diaz finished the game, throwing four strong innings, allowing just two runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk with four strikeouts.

Eduard Pinto had an excellent day, going 3/5 with a double and an RBI, scoring twice for the Fisher Cats. Kevin Smith was 1/2 with a sacrifice fly, an RBI and was hit by a pitch. Nash Knight was 1/4 with a double and an RBI while Rodrigo Orozco was 1/4 with a double, a run and a stolen base.

Roster Notes: Travis Bergen was promoted to New Hampshire while Nick Hartman was sent back down from the Fisher Cats.

Lansing Lugnuts 12, Lake County Captains 1

 

The Lansing Lugnuts nursed a 1-0 lead through most of the game until the seventh when they exploded, scoring four in the seventh, four in the eight and three in the ninth to beat up the Dayton Dragons 12-1. Norberto Obeso (3/5, BB, 2B, 3 R, RBI), Cullen Large (3/6, 2 RBI, 3 R), Branden Grudzielanek (3/4, 2B, 2 BB, 3 R) and Brock Lundquist (3/5, BB, RBI) all joined the three hits club while Ryan Noda had four RBI, going 2/4 with two sacrifice flies. Yeltsin Gudino drove in three, going 2/5 with a double and a walk, scoring once and both Samad Taylor (1/5, 2B, BB, 2 R) and Reggie Pruitt (1/4, BB, SB, CS) were on base twice.

Turner Larkins was excellent in his start, tossing six innings and giving up only three hits while striking out six. Kyle Weatherly went two perfect innings, striking out three and Dany Jimenez gave up a run on two hits and two walks in the ninth, striking out one.
