The Blue Jays’ affiliates went 4-4 on Thursday with the return of Vlad to New Hampshire and Tom Pannone starting to settle in in Buffalo.

 

Buffalo Bisons 3, Durham Bulls 4

The Buffalo Bisons had a 3-2 lead going into the top of the ninth but two runs by the Durham Bulls handed the Bisons a 4-3 loss. Rowdy Tellez hit another home run, going 1/3 with a walk and the solo shot. Reese McGuire was 2/3 with a double and an RBI and Dalton Pompey was 1/3 with a walk and an RBI.

Thomas Pannone had a solid start, giving up two runs on six hits including a solo home run while striking out nine without walking anyone over eight innings. Jose Fernandez took the loss, allowing a two-run home run in the ninth, giving up two hits and a walk with two strikeouts.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 6, Harrisburg Senators 3

 

With Vladimir Guerrero Jr. back in the lineup, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats went on to a 6-3 win over the Harrisburg Senators despite a minimal contribution from the game’s #1 prospect. Vlad was 1/4 with two strikeouts but Bo Bichette was 2/4 with two doubles, three RBI and a run while Andrew Guillotte continued his hot streak with a 2/3 game that included a double, an RBI and two runs. Santiago Espinal was 1/4 with a double in his New Hampshire debut at second base while Cavan Biggio was 1/2 with a sacrifice fly and one RBI.

T.J. Zeuch gave up three runs (two earned) on seven hits with three strikeouts over six innings and Justin Dillon got the win for a clean seventh. Zach Jackson walked two but struck out two in the eighth and Andrew Case closed it, giving up a hit in the ninth.

Roster Notes: Santiago Espinal and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. were added to the Fisher Cats’ roster while Nash Knight was sent down to Dunedin and Gunnar Heidt was placed on the 7-day DL.

Dunedin Blue Jays 2, Tampa Tarpons 4

Maverik Buffo took the loss as the Dunedin Blue Jays fell 4-2 to the Tampa Tarpons. Buffo allowed four runs on eight hits and two walks over five-plus innings, striking out five. Ty Tice pitched two strong innings, walking two and striking out three. William Ouellette struck out two batters in two innings, giving up three hits and a walk.

Logan Warmoth was 2/5 and Ivan Castillo had two hits with a 2/3 game, hitting a double and a taking a walk while scoring a run. Yeltsin Gudino was on base twice, going 1/3 with a walk and an RBI while Alberto Mineo was 1/3 with an RBI.

Roster Notes: Vladimir Guerrero and Santiago Espinal were promoted from Dunedin to New Hampshire and Nash Knight was sent down to Dunedin.

Lansing Lugnuts 3, Peoria Chiefs 7

The Lansing Lugnuts took a 7-3 loss to the Peoria Chiefs despite a 3/3 game from Ryan Noda. Noda was 3/3 with a walk and a run while Reggie Pruitt was 2/4 with a double and a stolen base. Kevin Vicuna was 2/4 with a walk and an RBI, stealing two bases.

Maximo Castillo didn’t walk anyone but he gave up five runs on eighth hits, including two home runs, while striking out two batters over five innings. Dalton Rodriguez was tagged for two unearned run on five hits including a home run over three innings. Yunior Hinojosa pitched a clean ninth.

Vancouver Canadians 5, Hillsboro Hops 0

 

Four Vancouver pitchers combined on a shutout as the Canadians beat the Hillsboro Hops 5-0. Joey Murray started, logging two innings and giving up a hit and two walks with one strikeout. Sean Wymer took over, throwing three one-hit innings, striking out four and not walking anyone. Fitz Stadler also tossed three frames, striking out four and walking one and Connor Law struck out a batter in the ninth.

Vinny Capra was 1/3 with a walk, hitting his second home run of the year, scoring twice and stealing a base and Otto Lopez was 1/3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run. Sterling Guzman was 1/3 with a double and a walk, scoring a run and Mc Gregory Contreras was 2/3 with an RBI and a run.

Bluefield Blue Jays 6, Johnson City Cardinals 7

After losing 7-5 on Wednesday to the Johnson City Cardinals, the Bluefield Blue Jays could do no better than creeping to within one run of the Cardinals on Thursday, losing 7-6. Nathanael Perez only lasted one batter into the third inning, giving up six runs on seven hits and three walks with two strikeouts in just two-plus innings. Adams Cuevas struck out four in four innings, giving up just a solo home run. Andy McGuire went two innings, allowing a hit and striking out three.

Dominic Abbadessa was 2/3 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run, stealing a base while Cal Stevenson also stole a base, going 1/3 with two walks, an RBI and a run. Rafael Lantigua was 2/4 with a double and an RBI and Davis Schneider had two hits, going 2/4 with a double. Alejandro Kirk drove in two runs, going 1/4.

GCL Blue Jays 5, GCL Braves 2

 

The GCL Blue Jays got a strong game all around, knocking 12 hits and scoring five runs to defeat the GCL Braves 5-2. Jordan Groshans and Gabriel Moreno had three hits each with Groshans going deep and adding a single and a double, driving in one and scoring twice. Moreno was 3/5 with a double, an RBI and a run. Steward Berroa was 2/5 with a run and two stolen bases while Yhordegny Kely was 1/3 with a double and a walk, scoring once.

On the mound, Rafael Monsion was solid, allowing two runs on two hits (including a home run) without walking anyone and striking out six over five innings. Alexander Molina tossed a scoreless sixth with one strikeout and Alvery De Los Santos threw three innings, giving up a hit and striking out one.

DSL Blue Jays 7, DSL Orioles 2

 

Alberto Rodriguez

In a rain-shortened match, the DSL Blue Jays prevailed 7-2 over the DSL Orioles. Lazaro Estrada continues to be a horse for the DSL Blue Jays, going six innings and giving up two runs (one earned) on five hits with four strikeouts for his first win. William Gonzalez pitched the seventh, giving up a hit and striking out one.

Erickvi Celedonia was 2/3 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run, while Alberto Rodriguez was 2/3 with a walk, two RBI, two runs and a stolen base. Jose Rivas was 2/4 with a run and Miguel Hiraldo was on base twice, going 1/3 with a walk, an RBI and a run, adding a stolen base. Catcher Jesus Hernandez showed some speed, going 1/3 with a double, driving in three runs and stealing a base.
