In a full day’s worth of action on Friday, the Blue Jays were 4-4 but Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was on the comeback trail from his knee injury.

The Buffalo Bisons got the game started with seven runs in the first two innings, but that lead was chipped away gradually . . .
Roemon Fields had himself a game, going 4/6 with three runs and three stolen bases while Anthony Alford was 3/6 with a double, two RBI and a run, stealing a base. Darnell Sweeney also had three hits, going 3/5 with a home run, two RBI and two runs, also stealing a base. Danny Jansen put the Bisons ahead in the 10th inning, hitting a two-run home run and going 1/5 with a walk, two RBI and two runs. Gio Urshela was 2/5 with a run and Richard Urena drove in three, going 2/6 with a double. Jonathan Davis, making his Triple-A debut was 1/5 but took a walk, drove in a run, stole a base and scored twice.
Matt Tracy went five innings, giving up two runs on five hits and three walks with two strikeouts before Murphy Smith handled the sixth with a solo home run and one strikeout. Zach Stewart gave up a run in the seventh and was charged with three more giving him four runs on five hits with a walk and a strikeout in 1 1/3 innings. Preston Guilmet allowed three runs on four hits and a walk, giving up two home runs in 1 2/3 innings with a strikeout. Staked to a three-run lead, Conor Fisk blew the save and took the loss, allowing four runs on three hits and a walk over 2/3 of an inning.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 5, Portland Sea Dogs 3
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats got their runs early and held on as they beat the Portland Sea Dogs 5-3 as the Jays were in nearby Boston (and parent team to the Sea Dogs). Bo Bichette was 4/5 with a double and two RBI, scoring a run while Connor Panas was 1/4 with a home run and a walk, driving in two. Jon Berti took two walks and Dalton Pompey was 0/4 with a walk and a run, stealing a base.
Tayler Saucedo picked up his first Double-A win, going 5 2/3 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits (including a home run) and two walks with five strikeouts. Zach Jackson walked two and gave up a hit, striking out one in 1 1/3 innings and Danny Young allowed a run on a hit in 2/3 of an inning. Travis Bergen picked up his first Double-A save, going 1 1/3 and giving up two hits with two strikeouts.

Dunedin Blue Jays 9, Tampa Tarpons 2
The Dunedin Blue Jays keep winning, moving their record to 46-44 with a 9-2 win to open their series against the Tampa Tarpons. Kacy Clemens brought his batting average to .210 thanks to a three-hit game, going 3/4 with a double, a walk, three RBI and a run. Yeltsin Gudino also had three hits, going 3/5 with an RBI. David Jacob and Joshua Palacios each hit a double while Kevin Smith drove in a run, going 1/4 with a walk and two runs. Santiago Espinal was 1/3 with a walk and a run and Riley Adams was 1/3 with a walk and a double, scoring once.
Yennsy Diaz was on point, allowing just a run on three hits with a walk and two strikeouts over five frames. Juliandry Higuera gave up a hit but nothing more in the sixth, striking out two. Andy Ravel allowed a run on two hits with a strikeout over two innings and Claudio Custodio struck out two in the ninth.

Lansing Lugnuts 2, Burlington Bees 7
And then it was all for naught. The Lansing Lugnuts staged a five-run comeback in the ninth inning against the Burlington Bees on Friday night but when power was lost and then the rains came, since the inning wasn’t complete, the score and inning rolled back to the eighth frame, handing the Lugnuts a 7-2 loss. Brandon Grudzielanek drove in both runs, going 1/3 with a stolen base and Samad Taylor added a stolen base, going 1/4 with a run.
Maximo Castillo went five innings to take the loss, giving up six runs on eight hits and two walks with four strikeouts and Orlando Pascual allowed a run in three innings on two hits with two strikeouts.

Vancouver Canadians 0, Boise Hawks 6
The Vancouver Canadians could only muster two hits in a 6-0 loss to the Boise Hawks. Red hot Otto Lopez had one plus a walk and Jesus Severino had the other while Vinny Capra walked twice.
Sean Wymer allowed three runs on five hits and a walk with two strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings. Fitz Stadler gave up a run, allowing one of two inherited runners to score in 1/3 of an inning. Joey Murray struck out four in two innings, walking one and Nick Allgeyer allowed three runs in two innings, on four hits with four strikeouts. Connor Law finished the game, striking out one in the eighth.

Bluefield Blue Jays 3, Princeton Rays 9
The Bluefield Blue Jays’ offense stalled on Friday night against the Princeton Rays, scoring three runs on just four hits and losing 9-3. Cal Stevenson had two of those hits, adding a walk and an RBI while D.J. Neal had a triple. Rafael Lantigua and Alejandro Kirk each walked twice.
Cre Finfrock started, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks despite striking out five in 3 2/3 innings. Joe DiBenedetto couldn’t get any outs, coming in with one runner on, allowing three runs on two hits and two walks. Grant Townsend stranded the runner he inherited, allowing just one run on two hits and two walks over 2 1/3 innings. Joey Pulido gave up a run on a hit and a walk over two innings and Brennan Price gave up an unearned run on a hit and a walk with two strikeouts in the ninth.

GCL Blue Jays 8, GCL Phillies East 0
The GCL Blue Jays had things well in hand, building an eight-run lead over the first three innings and cruised to an 8-0 victory over the GCL Phillies East. This game featured a couple of special guest stars as 2017 first-round pick Logan Warmoth and #1-prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. each started rehab stints in the GCL. Warmoth was 0/1 with a walk and was hit by two pitches, scoring twice and Guerrero was 1/3 with a walk and a run. Stealing the show, however, was Jordan Groshans, the Jays’ 2018 first-round pick, playing third base and going 3/4 with two doubles, five RBI and a run. Yhordegny Kelly was 2/5 and Addison Barger was 2/4 with a double and a run. Adrian Ramos was 2/5 with an RBI and two runs and Steward Berroa was 2/4 with a run and a stolen base.
The pitching side was just as impressive, not walking a man over nine innings with Alvery De Los Santos tossing five scoreless innings, giving up three hits and striking out five. Alexander Molina went two hitless frames, striking out one and Anderson Nunez finished the game by pitching two more innings, giving up a hit and striking out two.

DSL Blue Jays 14, DSL White Sox 9
The DSL Blue Jays brought their lumber but needed almost all of the runs they scored as they defeated the DSL White Sox 14-9. Three Blue Jays had three-hit games including Alberto Rodriguez who was 3/5 with a walk, four RBI, four runs and three stolen bases. Pedro Hurtado added three RBI, going 3/5 wtih two stolen bases and Jose Rivas was 3/5 with a double, an RBI and four runs. Miguel Hiraldo was 2/5 with a walk, a double, an RBI and two runs. Kenny Mauricio was 1/4 with a double, an RBI and two runs, hitting a sac fly and Jhon Solarte was 1/4 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run, also hitting a sac fly.
Santos Moreno had a rough start, allowing six runs (five earned) on six hits and a walk with five strikeouts in four innings before Brayan Mejia threw three hitless innings, walking one and striking out one. Eliezer Bello allowed a run in the eighth, giving up a walk and a hit and it took Jose Brito (1/3 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, K), Moises De La Cruz (1/3 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 1 K, 1 HR) and William Gonzalez (1/3 IP, K, S) to finish the ninth.
