The Blue Jays’ affiliates went 4-1 in five games on Monday with the Buffalo Bisons getting their first no hitter since 1997 when Bartolo Colon accomplished the feat.

 

 

Buffalo Bisons 3, Rochester Red Wings 0

 

T.J. Zeuch made his case to be promoted by the Blue Jays after no-hitting the Rochester Red Wings as the Buffalo Bisons won 3-0.

Zeuch threw a complete game, walking just one and hitting a batter, striking out three and getting 15 ground outs and just six on fly balls as he threw 114 pitches to get the single-pitcher no hitter, a rarity in baseball these days, particularly in the minor leagues.

In support of Zeuch, the Blue Jays had three runs on seven hits with doubles from Patrick Kivlehan (1/4, 2B, R) and Andy Burns (1/4, 2B, RBI) while Jonathan Davis was 1/3 with a run, was hit by a pitch twice and stole a base. Socrates Brito was 1/5 with a run and Beau Taylor was 1/3 with an RBI on a sac fly. Jordan Patterson was hit by a pitch twice and was 1/2 while Santiago Espinal was 1/4 with an RBI.

Roster Notes: Andrew Sopko was placed on the Injured List and Andres Sotillo was assigned to Buffalo from New Hampshire.

 



 

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 1, Trenton Thunder (NYY) 0

 

While the Buffalo Bisons got a no hitter, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats got a shutout as they blanked the Trenton Thunder in a 1-0 win.

Zach Logue returned from the IL, tossing two hitless innings, walking one and striking out three. Joey Murray allowed six hits but also struck out six and walked one in 5 2/3 scoreless innings and Vinny Nittoli stranded two runners, striking out the only batter he faced to finish the eighth inning. Dany Jimenez secured his sixth save with a scoreless ninth, allowing a hit and striking out two.

Christian Williams was 2/4 with a double and a stolen base and Joshua Palacios was 1/3 with a walk and stolen base. Cullen Large was 1/4 with a double and an RBI and Brock Lundquist was 1/4.

Dunedin Blue Jays

Lansing Lugnuts 4, Dayton Dragons (CIN) 3

 

The Lansing Lugnuts beat the Dayton Dragons 4-3 but had only four hits in the win.

One of those hits, however, was a three-run home run by Gabriel Moreno who was 1/3 with blast, adding a walk and a stolen base, driving in three. Yorman Rodriguez was 1/4 with a double and two runs and Tanner Kirwer was 1/3 with a double and a run. John Aiello was 1/3 with a double.

Fitz Stadler started, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits with six strikeouts in six innings and Juan Nunez threw a scoreless seventh, striking out one. Jose Espada struck out one in the eighth, going 2/3 of an inning and Marcus Reyes finished the inning and finished the game, allowing two hits but no runs over 1 1/3 innings for his second save.

Vancouver Canadians 8, Boise Hawks (COL) 3

 

The Vancouver Canadians’ offense erupted for eight runs to beat the Boise Hawks 8-3.

Cameron Eden was 3/5 with a run and a stolen base while Tanner Morris was 2/4 with a double, a walk, two RBI and two runs. Jesus Lopez was 2/5 with a double, an RBI and a run and Ronny Brito was 2/4 with a walk and a run. Trevor Schwecke was 2/3 with a double, two walks, an RBI and a run and Mc Gregory Contreras was 1/ with a triple, two RBI and a run.

Luis Quinones went three innings, allowing a run on two hits and three walks with three strikeouts in the start and Nick Fraze allowed just two walks in three innings, striking out two. Gage Burland didn’t get an out and allowed two runs on three hits with a walk while Nicolas Medina struck out two and only allowed one of his three inherited runners to score over two innings. Parker Caracci finished it, allowing a hit and a walk with a hit batter in the ninth.

Bluefield Blue Jays 5, Bristol Pirates (PIT) 6

 

The Bluefield Blue Jays got all of their runs in the bottom of the eighth, scoring five times but it was too little, too late as the Bristol Pirates had already scored six times and held on for a 6-5 win.

Leonardo Jimenez drove in three runs, going 1/3 with a triple and a walk while Davis Schneider was 1/4 with a double. Justin Ammons was 2/5 with a run and Patrick Morris was 2/4 with an RBI and a run. Miguel Hiraldo was on base twice, going 1/3 with a walk and a run.

Jimmy Robbins started for Bluefield, allowing three runs on five hits with three walks and two strikeouts in three innings. Andrew McInvale was tagged for three runs on five hits and two walks with three strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings and Yunior Hinjosa allowed two walks and struck out two in 2 1/3 innings. Aldo Ovando allowed a hit in the ninth.
