The Blue Jays’ minor league affiliates won one of three games on Thursday with two afternoon games on the schedule.

Buffalo Bisons 0, Rochester Red Wings 4

 

On a “Getaway Day” afternoon start for the Buffalo Bisons, the hitters couldn’t find their rhythm against Logan Darnell who, despite not striking out any of the Bisons hitters, went the distance for a four-hit, four-walk shutout. Alexi Casilla had the Bisons’ only double while David Adams was on twice with a walk and a single.

Starter Chris Leroux was strong for the Bisons, throwing six innings and allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and a walk with five strikeouts. Pat McCoy allowed a run on a hit and a walk in two innings with one strikeout while Pat Venditte, in his return to Buffalo, allowed a run on three hits in his inning.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats

Roster Notes: Christian Lopes was promoted to New Hampshire from Dunedin.

 

Dunedin Blue Jays 4, Tampa Yankees 5

 

After scoring two in the second and two in the sixth, the Dunedin Blue Jays couldn’t get that last run to tie things up and finished the game losing 5-4 to the Tampa Yankees. Jays’ #2 prospect Conner Greene got hit hard in his outing against the Tampa Yankees, giving up two home runs among 10 hits and three walks with five runs charged (four earned) and just one strikeout in 5 2/3 innings. Matt Dermody followed to get the Blue Jays out of the sixth inning and Bo Schultz, making his first rehab outing of the year, pitched a scoreless seventh, walking a man. Tim Mayza pitched two scoreless innings to finish the game, giving up a hit and striking out one.

Jason Leblebijian led the offense with two of the Blue Jays’ six hits, going 2/3 with a walk, a run and an RBI. Jonathan Davis was 1/3 with a walk and a run, adding a stolen base while Derrick Loveless drove in two runs with a double but also struck out three times.

Roster Notes: Christian Lopes was sent to New Hampshire from Dunedin and Bo Schultz was assigned to Dunedin for rehab.

 

Lansing Lugnuts 6, Beloit Snappers 1

 

The Lansing Lugnuts completed their series sweep in Beloit, defeating the Snappers 6-1 on Thursday. Sean Reid-Foley started and went only three innings but allowed just one run on four hits without walking anyone and striking out five of the 12 batters he faced. Conor Fisk took the win, throwing five innings and allowing only two hits and one walk with five strikeouts of his own while Daniel Lietz allowed only a walk in his inning, with one strikeout.

On the other side of the ball, the Lugnuts spread their offense around, getting one hit from seven players including a double, two walks, two runs and a stolen base from Andrew Guillotte and a double and two RBI from Ryan Hissey. Lane Thomas stole two bases and scored twice despite going 0/4 while Gunnar Heidt was on twice, stealing a pair of bases (to give him nine on the year) with a single and a walk.
