Buffalo Bisons 2, Pawtucket Red Sox 5

Despite getting off to a 2-0 lead thanks to the big bat of Domonic Brown, the Buffalo Bisons couldn’t get any more and the Pawtucket Red Sox scored five runs off of Casey Lawrence for a victory on Saturday. Lawrence went five innings, giving up all five Red Sox runs on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Chad Jenkins walked one and didn’t allow a hit in two innings while Bobby Korecky struck out a pair in two one-hit innings.

The Bisons’ offense continues to struggle, getting just six hits including Brown’s two-run blast. Jesus Montero hit a double and Andy Burns was 2/4 with a double and a single. Dalton Pompey was 1/4 with a run.

Player of the Game: Domonic Brown, Chad Jenkins and Bobby Korecky

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 1, Trenton Thunder 7

The Fisher Cats’ offense and bullpen squandered a solid effort from starter Jason Berken as they fell 7-1 to the Trenton Thunder. Berken went six innings and gave up just two runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts before Daniel Schlereth allowed three hits and a walk in 1/3 of an inning. While two runs scored on Schlereth, Danny Barnes came in with two runners on and stranded them both, pitching 1 2/3 innings of no-hit, one walk ball with a strikeout. John Stilson allowed three runs (two earned) in his 1/3 of an inning before Wil Browning was able to keep two of the three runners he inherited from scoring.

Like the Bisons, the Fisher Cats had just six hits including two singles, an RBI and a walk from Jorge Flores (who also made an error), a double and walk from K.C. Hobson  and a single and two walks from Matt Dean.

Player of the Game: Jorge Flores and Jason Berken

Dunedin Blue Jays 3, Palm Beach Cardinals 2

The Dunedin Blue Jays and Palm Beach Cardinals both put up a lot of zeroes after the fourth inning and it was the home Blue Jays who broke that string in the bottom of the 13th, walking off with a victory on an RBI single by Richard Urena. The scoring started with Jason Leblebijian singling home a run in the bottom of the first while Danny Jansen singled home David Harris in the second to give the Blue Jays a 2-0 lead. Freshly-inked righty Kyle Westwood allowed single runs in the third in fourth, totalling two over six innings on eight hits and a walk with two strikeouts in his Blue Jays debut. Alonzo Gonzalez took over with four innings of hitless relief, walking three and striking out three and Chris Rowley took over with three innings of hitless relief of his own, striking out one, facing the minimum of nine batters.

Urena was 3/6 with a walk and an RBI while Jason Leblebijian and Ryan Metzler each contributed two hits (with Metzler adding a walk). Jonathan Davis, D.J. Davis, Dickie Joe Thon and Ryan McBroom had a hit and a walk each.

Player of the Game: Richard Urena

Roster Notes: Kyle Westwood signed as a minor league free agent and was assigned to the Dunedin Blue Jays.

Lansing Lugnuts 7, Bowling Green Hot Rods 5

The Lugnuts moved their record to 5-2 in a see-saw battle against the Bowling Green Hot Rods that saw Canadian Connor Panas hit his first home run of the year. Panas added two walks, finishing the night 1/2 with a pair of runs and a pair of RBI. Andrew Guillotte drove home the winning runs in the top of the ninth and had a stellar night at the plate, going 2/3 with a single, a double, three RBI, two walks, two runs and two stolen bases. Juan Kelly was 2/4 with a double as well.

Angel Perdomo got the start and allowed two runs on three hits and two walks in 4 2/3 innings (needing 75 pitches) with three strikeouts. Conor Fisk took over and allowed three more runs in 1 1/3 innings on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Starlyn Suriel provided two perfect innings of relief, striking out three and earning the win while Dusty Isaacs picked up his second save of the season with a one-hit ninth inning.

Player of the Game: Andrew Guillotte
