The Blue Jays’ affiliates won five of their eight completed games on Tuesday, getting a huge game from the one we call “McBoom” in Dunedin.

 

Buffalo Bisons 3, Rochester Red Wings 0

 

The Buffalo Bisons got Chris Leroux to show his best side as the Bisons shut out the Rochester Red Wings to get back to the .500 mark at 62-62. Leroux threw 6 2/3 innings of three-hit ball, walking two and striking out four before turning the ball over the bullpen. Aaron Loup finished the seventh inning and Bo Schultz earned the save with two innings of two-hit ball, striking out two and preserving the shutout.

Matt Dominguez hit his team-leading 16th home run, going 2/4 while Jesus Montero was 2/4 with a double and an RBI. A.J. Jimenez also had two hits, going 2/3 with a double and an RBI.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 4, Binghamton Mets 3

 

Another game and another win for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats who opened their double header against the Binghamton Mets with a 4-3 win. The offense for the Fisher Cats was concentrated in the first inning as the club got a three-run home run from Dwight Smith, Jr. (his 10th of the year). Jason Leblebijian was 2/3 and Jon Berti drove in the club’s other run and added a stolen base (his 24th).

Newly signed John Straka threw six innings for the Fisher Cats, giving up all three runs on five htis and a walk with three strikeouts. Chris Smith earned his 13th save, striking out the side in the seventh.

Roster Notes: John Straka was assigned to the Fisher Cats and Taylor Cole was placed on the 7-day DL.

 

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 5, Binghamton Mets 4

 

Game 2 of the double header had a similar result, with the Fisher Cats beating the Binghamton Mets by a one-run margin, this time by a 5-4 score. Despite the similar result, the Fisher Cats got their runs later in the game, coming back from a 4-0 deficit on the back of two home runs from catcher Jorge Saez. Saez was 2/3 with two solo home runs (one in the fifth and one in the seventh) and Jon Berti also added a home run, going 3/4 with a single, triple and the game-winning home run leading off the eighth inning, scoring twice and stealing a base. Rowdy Tellez was 1/3 with an RBI.

John Anderson started for the Fisher Cats and gave up three runs on six hits and two walks over 2 2/3 innings with four strikeouts. Brady Dragmire allowed a run on two hits and a walk in 2 1/3 innings and Alonzo Gonzalez picked up his first Double-A win, going three innings and giving up just one hit and one walk with two strikeouts.

Dunedin Blue Jays 10, Daytona Tortugas 1

 

The Dunedin Blue Jays’ prolific offense went to work, taking care of the Daytona Tortugas with 10 runs while the pitching staff kept them at bay, holding them to just one run. Conor Fisk started and contributed seven strong innings, giving up the run on just three hits and a walk with one strikeout. Adonys Cardona pitched a scorless eighth, allowing a hit and striking out a batter and Francisco Rios allowed two hits but no runs in the ninth, striking out one.

Ryan McBroom had a huge game for the Blue Jays, missing the cycle by a home run, going 4/5 with two singles, a double and a triple, driving in three and scoring twice. Michael De La Cruz was 2/3 with two runs and a walk and Josh Almonte was 2/4 with a double and an RBI, adding a run. Anthony Alford was also on base five times, going 2/2 with three walks, a run and was caught stealing. Johnathan Davis walked four times, going 0/1 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Lansing Lugnuts 0, Great Lakes Loons 12

 

The Lansing Lugnuts might not have wanted to come to the ballpark on Tuesday and certainly must have been in a hurry to go home after a 12-0 loss to the Great Lakes Loons. Facing Dodgers’ prospect Yadier Alvarez (and company), the Lugnuts struck out 15 times and got just three hits.

Ryan Borucki was charged wtih four runs on six hits and three walks over five innings but he struck out six. Tayler Saucedo gave up six more runs over 2 1/3 innings while Starlyn Suriel allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks over 1 2/3 innings.

Vancouver Canadians 5, Hillsboro Hops 6

 

The Vancouver Canadians had tied up the game with two runs in the top of the seventh but ended up conceding a run in the bottom of the ninth to lose 6-5 to the Hillsboro Hops in a walkoff on Tuesday afternoon. D.J. McKnight was 2/5 with a triple, an RBI and two runs while Joshua Palacios had the other two-hit game, gonig 2/5 with a double, a run and an RBI. Cavan Biggio was 1/2 with a triple, a run, a walk, two RBI and a stolen base while Rodrigo Orozco was 1/3 with two walks, a run and was caught stealing.

Dalton Rodriguez was lit up for five runs over 3 2/3 innings, giving up nine hits and two walks and striking out two. Geno Encina had a strong outing, going 4 1/3 innings, giving up just a hit and a walk with four strikeouts and Jackson McClelland took the loss after giving up a solo home run to the first batter he faced in the ninth.

Bluefield Blue Jays 1, Princeton Rays 0

 

Game suspended due to rain.

 

GCL Blue Jays 2, GCL Phillies 1

 

After losing both halves of a double header on Monday to the GCL Phillies, the GCL Blue Jays returned the favour with a 2-1 victory. Despite 11 hits, the Blue Jays scored only twice and Yorman Rodriguez, who was 3/5 and stole two bases, didn’t figure into any of the runs. Norberto Obeso (2/5, 2B) drovei n one run and Jesus Navarro (1/3, BB) drove home the other. Alfredo Bohorquez was 2/4 with a double, a run and a stolen base.

Wilfri Aleton went five innings, giving up one run on four hits and a walk with four strikeouts before making way for William Ouelette who threw 2 2/3 innings, giving up two hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Jared Carkuff struck out three in 1 1/3 innings, giving up one hit.

Player of the Game: Norberto Obeso

 

DSL Blue Jays 0, DSL D-backs 1

 

Despite a well-pitched game from the Blue Jays, the club failed to take advantage of three errors by the DSL D-backs and lost 1-0. The Blue Jays had two hits from Jose Theran (2/3, BB) and Jonelvy Molina (2/3, 2B).

Claudio Galva went five innings, giving up a run on four hits and a walk with three strikeouts while Adams Cuevas threw three innings, giving up two hits and striking out three.
