Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to Join the Buffalo Bisons Tuesday, July 31

Vladimir Guerrero

Unless he’s trolling us all, Richard Griffin appears to have broken the seal on the announcement that the Toronto Blue Jays will promote Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to the Buffalo Bisons next week following the Hall of Fame Induction Weekend in Cooperstown, NY.

Guerrero has dominated the Eastern League all season and thumped his 14th home run of the season last night in a win for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Vlad the Younger has hit an astonishing .402/.449/.671 in his Age-19 season, spending it in Double-A while hitting 14 home runs, 19 doubles and striking out only 27 times (for a 10.4% rate, which is pretty unreal).

The Vlad-to-Buffalo rumours were put on ice for a while as he missed over a month with a knee injury but now that he’s been back in New Hampshire for seven games, hitting in every one of them and having two-hit games in three with three home runs, it appears that it’s time for a move onward and upward.

Vlad’s famous father, Vladimir Guerrero, is being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame this weekend in Cooperstown and, as Richard Griffin has tweeted, Vlad Jr. will accompany his father to the HOF ceremony and then keep moving west in New York State to join the Buffalo Bisons.

The Bisons open a series against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Monday at 7:05pm at Coca Cola Field in Buffalo.

UPDATE: It looks like Vladdy won’t appear with the Bisons until Tuesday, July 31, also against Lehigh Valley and also at 7:30pm.
