Buffalo Bisons 1, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 2

The Buffalo Bisons got a strong start from Mike Bolsinger but the bullpen blew up in a small way, giving up a narrow lead to lose their fourth game in a row at the hands of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders in a 2-1 loss. Bolsinger went five innings and allowed just two hits and three walks, keeping the RailRiders off the board while striking out four. Aaron Loup threw a scoreless sixth and Wil Browning survived the seventh before walking the leadoff man in the eighth and getting a sac bunt before making way for Chris Smith. Smith allowed the inherited leadoff walk to score and gave up another run of his own in the ninth to allow the RailRiders to walk off with the win.

The Bisons had another game in which they had just five hits with Melky Mesa getting two.

Player of the Game: Mike Bolsinger

Roster Notes: Darrell Ceciliani, Dalton Pompey, Matt Dermody, Danny Barnes and Ryan Tepera were promoted to the Blue Jays and the Bisons received Wil Browning, Melky Mesa and John Stilson from the New Hampshire Fisher Cats and activated Bobby Korecky and David Adams from the DL.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 7, Portland Sea Dogs 4

A hot Rowdy is always good for the Fisher Cats and New Hampshire got that and then some in a 7-4 win over the Portland Sea Dogs. Rowdy Tellez hit his 22nd home run of the year, going 2/3 with a double, a walk, three RBI and two runs. Christian Lopes was 2/3 with a double, a sac fly, two RBI and a run while Jason Leblebijian was 2/4 with a double, an RBI and a run. Emilio Guerrero scored twice, going 1/4 with a double.

Jeremy Gabryszwski went six innings, giving up all four runs (three earned) over the first three innings, and surrendering seven hits and striking out four. Taylor Cole made an appearance out of the bullpen, throwing two innings of no-hit ball, striking out one while Brady Dragmire earned his first save with the Fisher Cats, allowing a hit in the ninth.

Player of the Game: Rowdy Tellez

Roster Notes: John Stilson, Melky Mesa and Wil Browning were promoted to Buffalo while Taylor Cole was activated off the DL and Ryan Cook was promoted from Dunedin to New Hampshire.

Dunedin Blue Jays 2, Clearwater Threshers 4

Despite a 4-2 loss to the Clearwater Threshers, the Dunedin Blue Jays were probably just happy to be on the field playing thanks to Tropical Storm Hermine washing out several days’ worth of games. The Blue Jays’ offense was quiet, getting just four hits including a solo home run from Max Pentecost who was 1/4 while Dickie Joe Thon was 2/4 with an RBI and Anthony Alford was 0/1 with two walks and a stolen base.

Jon Harris allowed all four runs on four hits and a walk over six innings with two strikeouts and Carlos Ramirez struck out the side in his inning while Adonys Cardona struck out one in the eighth.

Player of the Game: Max Pentecost

Roster Notes: Carlos Ramirez and Josh Almonte were activated off the DL while Ryan Cook was promoted to New Hampshire.

Lansing Lugnuts 2, Bowling Green Hot Rods 6

A five-run third inning for the Bowling Green Hot Rods and four errors for the Lansing Lugnuts was enough to sink the hopes of the home ‘Nuts in the 6-2 loss. Josh DeGraaf was the losing pitcher, giving up five runs (three earned) on four hits and three walks over 2 2/3 innings. Daniel Young, coming in with a runner on, allowed the inherited runner to score but only gave up a hit and a walk in 1 1/3 innings. Tayler Saucedo gave up an unearned run over four strong innings, allowing three hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Dan Lietz provided a scoreless ninth.

Ryan Hissey had a big day for the Lugnuts, going 2/4 with a double and a home run. J.B. Woodman was 2/4 with a double and a run while Cavan Biggio was 2/4. Justin Atkinson had the club’s only other hit, going 1/2 with a double and an RBI.
