The Toronto Blue Jays had a big, 10-inning victory over the Philadelphia Phillies, getting Marcus Stroman his first win of his career while the Jays’ minor league affiliates split their four games on Tuesday. Check out Jays Journal’s minor league report.

Buffalo Bisons 2, Gwinnett Braves 3

Despite another strong performance from starter Liam Hendriks, the Buffalo Bisons’ win streak was snapped by the Gwinnett Braves. Hendriks threw seven innings, allowing just one unearned run on seven hits without a walk and struck out three batters. Rob Rasmussen took the loss (and blown save), allowing two runs, although one of those came in with Ryan Tepera on the mound. The bats were mostly quiet but Jared Goedert and Ryan Goins had a pair of hits each.

Player of the Game: Liam Hendriks

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 6, Binghamton Mets 4

The Fisher Cats took their second straight game against the Mets, despite a short outing from Matt Boyd. Boyd needed 90 pitches to go 3 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on nine hits but he didn’t walk a man and he struck out seven. Richard Bleier earned the win, throwing 3 2/3 innings while Scott Gracey pitcked up the save. Andy Burns drove in three runs, going 1/3 with a double and a sac fly but the infielder has been fairly cold this season, hitting just .200 up to this point. Mike McDade had a pair of hits including a double while Andy Fermin also had a pair of hits and is hitting .419 so far this year. Jon Berti went 1/3 , hit a double, scored twice and drove in a pair.

Dunedin Blue Jays 10, Tampa Yankees 2

The D-Jays’ bats opened up in the seventh inning, sending 14 batters to the plate and exploding for nine runs. Adam Lind went 0/2 but Kevin Patterson, subbing in, hit his third home run of the season. Matt Newman, activated off the DL (with Toronto native Marcus Knecht going on the DL), continued his torrid hitting like he never left, going 2/2 with an RBI and two walks. Christian Lopes drove in three runs with a 2/4 game. Jorge FLores also had a pair of hits and an RBI. Kendall Graveman gave up two runs in the first but was outstanding from then on, going six strong innings, allowing just those two runs on four hits and no walks with six strikeouts.

Player of the Game: Kendall Graveman, Christian Lopes and Matt Newman

Lansing Lugnuts 0, Fort Wayne TinCaps 1

In another pitcher’s duel, the Lansing Lugnuts came out on the wrong side again. Shane Dawson had a much better outing this time out, going four innings, allowing just one run on two hits and a walk and striking out four. Alberto Tirado came in to relieve him and threw three scoreless innings, but allowed two hits and walked four batters despite striking out four. Brady Dragmire threw two more scoreless innings, making it only one run allowed in his last 15 1/3 innings. Jorge Saez had a pair of hits and a walk to get on base three times.

Player of the Game: Jorge Saez

May 7 Preview

Buffalo Bisons (18-11)

The Bisons haven’t announced their starter against the Gwinnett Braves and Cody Martin. Martin has a 3.64 ERA to go along with his 2-2 record and has a very impressive 38 strikeouts in 29 2/3 innings. Catch it at 6:35 PM on MiLB TV.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats (14-16)

The Fisher Cats continue their series against the Binghamton Mets in a game that’s already underway. Casey Lawrence goes for the Fisher Cats while Greg Peavey goes for the Mets.

Dunedin Blue Jays (23-8)

The D-Jays send Taylor Cole (2-0, 2.36 ERA) to the mound against the 7-22 Clearwater Threshers and Brody Colvin. Colvin has made only one start with the Threshers after being demoted from Double-A Reading while Taylor Cole has been outstanding, posting one of the best K/9 ratios in the Florida State League (he’s fourth in the league overall and has the best ratio for a starter). Catch the game on the internet and radio at 6:30 PM.

Lansing Lugnuts (15-16)

The Lugnuts send Matt Dermody to the hill for his second start of the year against the Fort Wayne TinCaps at 7:05 PM. The big lefty had a solid but unimpressive start his first time out and he’ll face Coby Cowgill, a 23-year-old Virginian who has posted a 1.93 ERA in three starts.
