The Blue Jays’ affiliates played a total of five games thanks to a double-header in Buffalo and overall, it was a good day, with the clubs going 4-1 but there was a scare in Buffalo as Miguel Castro came off the mound in the second inning due to an injury.
Buffalo Bisons 1, Rochester Red Wings 2
All the scoring was done in the second inning but the loss for the Buffalo Bisons wasn’t the worst news of the day. Miguel Castro came out of the game in the second with what was described as “forearm tightness” after just 1 1/3 innings. He allowed both runs on a home run to Ryan Wheeler. The bullpen was outstanding as Scott Copeland went to work with 3 2/3 innings of four-hit, one-walk ball while Rob Rasmussen pitched two perfect innings to finish the game. Andy Burns accounted for the Bisons’ only run with a solo home run in the second while Devon Travis was 0/4 in a rehab start. Matt Hague was 2/3 and Jonathan Diaz was 2/2 with a double and a walk.
Roster Notes: Bo Schultz was called up by the Blue Jays and Devon Travis arrived for a rehab stint. Todd Redmond was sent to Buffalo outright.

Buffalo Bisons 4, Rochester Red Wings 2
The Buffalo Bisons turned the tables on the Rochester Red Wings but in the second game of the double header, all the scoring occurred in the third inning with Rochester tallying twice in the top half and the Bisons answering with four in the bottom. Jeff Francis went three innings and allowed both Rochester runs on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts but Chad Jenkins threw two perfect innings while Luis Perez and Gregory Infante threw a scoreless frame each.
Matt Hague had another two-hit game, giving him four for the day. This time he hit a single, a double, took a walk and drove in a pair of runs. Dioner Navarro was 1/3 in another rehab start as the DH.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 9, New Britain Rock Cats 4
The Fisher Cats found their bats as they pummeled the New Britain Rock Cats for nine runs and 14 hits in a 9-4 victory. Casey Lawrence pitched the complete game, showing off his control: he didn’t walk a man while striking out six and giving up four runs on nine hits including a three-run home run in the third inning.
Two batters had three hits apiece with Daric Barton going 3/5 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored while K.C. Hobson was 3/4 with a double, two RBI and a walk. Matt Newman contributed with a pair of sac flies while Shane Opitz (2/4, 2B, R), Ian Parmley (2/5, R) and Dwight Smith, Jr. (2/5, RBI, R) each had a pair of hits. Jack Murphy walked three times.

Dunedin Blue Jays 2, Jupiter Hammerheads 1
Despite scoring only two runs on four hits, the Dunedin finally got a good enough pitching performance to win. Luis Santos fired seven innings of four-hit, one-unearned-run ball without walking anyone and striking out three. Justin Shafer finished the game with two innings of one-hit ball. Christian Lopes had two hits including a double for the Blue Jays and Alex Hassan walked twice.

Lansing Lugnuts 5, Dayton Dragons 4
First-year Lugnut Conner Greene had a solid game against the Dragons and the bullpen managed to hold on for the win. Greene went five innings and allowed four hits and three walks, adding up to three runs (two were earned) with six strikeouts. Colton Turner struck out another four in three innings, allowing just one hit and Michael Kraft earned the save despite allowing a run in the ninth on two hits and two walks.
The mighty Lugnuts offense continues to churn as Richard Urena (2/5, 2B, R), Rowdy Tellez (2/4, RBI, BB) and Ryan McBroom (2/3, RBI, BB) each had two hits. Anthony Alford was 1/4 with another walk and a stolen base.
