With the New Hampshire Fisher Cats off and the Dunedin Blue Jays rained out, there were only two games on the schedule for the Blue Jays’ minor league affiliates on Monday and both resulted in wins.

 

Buffalo Bisons 8, Syracuse Chiefs 5

 

Rowdy Tellez keeps getting rowdier as the season progresses as he hit his second home run of the year to help drive the Buffalo Bisons to an 8-5 victory over the Syracuse Chiefs. Tellez went 2/3 with a home run and three RBI, adding a stolen base. Tim Lopes was 2/4 with a triple, two RBI, two runs and two stolen bases while Jason Lebelbijian hit his fifth home run, going 1/4 with his solo blast. Darnell Sweeney was 1/4 with a double and a run and Lourdes Gurriel hit a double, took a walk, drove in a run and stole a base.

Chris Rowley started and allowed five runs (four earned) over six innings, giving up six hits (including two home runs) and four walks with one strikeout. Dusty Isaacs made his Triple-A debut, giving up just a hit over two innings while striking out three and Al Alburquerque got the save with a perfect ninth, striking out one.

Roster Notes: Dusty Isaacs was promoted to Buffalo from New Hampshire and Richard Urena was optioned to Buffalo from Toronto.

Lansing Lugnuts 2, South Bend Cubs 1

 

Yennsy Diaz

The Lansing Lugnuts made the most of their five hits to beat the South Bend Cubs 2-1 on Monday. Chavez Young scored a run, going 1/3 with a triple while Kevin Vicuna was on base three times, going 1/2 with two walks and a stolen base (although he was also caught stealing). Kevin Smith was 1/3 with an RBI, a sac fly, a run and a stolen base and Andres Sotillo was 2/3.

Despite walking four batters, Yennsy Diaz was very tough to hit, giving up two hits with three strikeouts over six innings for his fifth win of the year. Andy Ravel went two innings, giving up a run on three hits with two strikeouts and Dany Jimenez finished it off, striking out one in the ninth for the save.
