The Blue Jays had all four of their affiliates in action, getting wins from the Fisher Cats and Lugnuts and losses from the Bisons and Dunedin Blue Jays.

 

Buffalo Bisons 2, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 3

 

In a 10:35am start, the Buffalo Bisons got down by two runs to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders and the score stayed at 2-0 for most of the game. But The Herd battled back, scoring two to tie in the top of the ninth before the RailRiders came back for a run in the bottom of the ninth to walk-off with a 3-2 win. Sam Gaviglio had a strong start, giving up two solo home runs over 7 1/3 innings, allowing four hits and a walk with eight strikeouts. Sam Moll finished the eighth and Murphy Smith gave up two hits and a walk to allow the game winning run with one out in the ninth.

The Bisons had just five hits as Devon Travis DHed for Buffalo. Rowdy Tellez was 1/3 with a walk and Richard Urena drove in a run.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 5, Reading Fightin Phils 6

 

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats couldn’t continue their winning ways despite a stellar performance from Sean Reid-Foley and another home run from Cavan Biggio in a 6-5 loss to the Reading Fightin Phils. Reid-Foley worked six innings, allowing only two runs on five hits (including one home run) and struck out 10 batters without walking anyone. Justin Shafer provided two scoreless innings of relief, giving up just one hit. Andrew Case finished the game, taking the loss, allowing two home runs in the ninth, among five hits and four runs.

Biggio was 2/3 with his sixth home run of the season, adding a walk and scoring twice. Juan Kelly hit his first of the year, going 2/4. Bo Bichette was also 2/4 with a run while Harold Ramirez was 2/4. Vlad had the day off.

Dunedin Blue Jays 3, Bradenton Marauders 6

 

The Dunedin Blue Jays dropped another game, falling to 9-16 with a 6-3 loss to the Bradenton Marauders. Nash Knight was 2/4 with two doubles and two RBI, adding a run while Ivan Castillo was 2/4 and Bradley Jones was 2/3. Rodrigo Orozco added a double, going 1/4 and Josh Palacios was 1/3 with a walk.

Josh DeGraaf went 5 2/3 innings, allowing six runs but only two were earned, giving up nine hits and striking out three. Nick Hartman arrived on the scene in the sixth, allowed his inherited runner from DeGraaf to score but was solid the rest of the way, tossing 2 1/3 innings and giving up two hits and striking out three.

Lansing Lugnuts 6, Kane County Cougars 2

Along with solid pitching, the Lansing Lugnuts powered their way to a 6-2 victory over the Kane County Cougars on Wednesday, hitting four home runs along the way. Five Lugnuts had two hits each including Chavez Young (2/5, 3 R, HR, RBI), Kevin Vicuna (2/5, 3B, RBI), Christian Williams (2/4, RBI), Kevin Smith (2/4, HR, RBI, R) and Brock Lundquist (2/3, BB, HR, RBI, R). Kacy Clemens also hit another home run, his league-leading sixth of the season (tied with Nick Yarnall of the Great Lakes Loons), going 1/4.

Zach Logue had another solid start, tossing six innings and allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and a walk with five strikeouts. Kyle Weatherly tossed a scoreless seventh, walking one and striking out one while Matt Shannon earned his first save of the season, allowing three hits and striking out a batter in two innings of work.
