The Buffalo Bisons beat the Syracuse Chiefs 6-3, getting three runs in the bottom of the eighth to seal the victory. While Cesar Valdez was outstanding in his Bisons debut, he allowed three runs in four innings on five hits in his second outing. Chad Girodo threw three excellent innings, holding the Chiefs to just one hit and one walk while Matt Dermody picked up the win, tossing a perfect eighth and Murphy Smith got the save with a scoreless ninth, walking one.

Raffy Lopez’s bat continues to be hot as he went 2/4 with a home run. Jonathan Diaz also had two hits, rapping two singles and taking a walk. Christian Lopes was 1/4 with a double and an RBI while Jake Elmore and Roemon Fields each drove in a run.

Player of the Game: Chad Girodo and Raffy Lopez

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 2, Trenton Thunder 4

Gunnar Heidt

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats fell 4-2 in the first game of their series with the Trenton Thunder. Sean Reid Foley was charged with two runs, after loading the bases to start the sixth inning and Dusty Isaacs allowed two to score. Reid-Foley’s line had him throwing five innings and giving up two runs on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts. Isaacs didn’t allow a run of his own, throwing two innings and giving up one hit with one strikeout. Chris Rowley took the loss, surrendering a two-run home run in the eighth inning.

The offense had just five hits with Gunnar Heidt going 2/3 with a double and Harold Ramirez hitting his third home run of the year, driving in two. Tim Lopes hit a double and Danny Jansen got a hit in his first Double-A game, also throwing out a runner stealing second base.

Dunedin Blue Jays 1, Charlotte Stone Crabs 6

Andrew Guillotte

Starter Angel Perdomo looked like he was settling in before the Charlotte Stone Crabs got to him for three runs in the fifth on the way to defeating the Dunedin Blue Jays by a 6-1 score. Perdomo completed the fifth but he had allowed four runs on six hits and three walks with three strikeouts in five innings. William Ouellette made his Dunedin debut, allowing a run on a hit and two walks with three strikeouts in two innings and Philip Walby allowed another run on two hits and a walk with one strikeout in the final two innings.

The D-Jays’ offense was quite, getting just five hits including two from Andrew Guillotte who was 2/4 with a run. Mike Reeves drove him in, going 1/3 with a sacrifice fly.

Player of the Game: Andrew Guillotte

Lansing Lugnuts 4, Fort Wayne TinCaps 11

The Lansing Lugnuts’ pitching staff got hammered for the second consecutive game, despite playing the much weaker Fort Wayne TinCaps, losing 11-4 on Tuesday. Andy Ravel allowed nine of those runs over 3 2/3 innings, surrendering 10 hits and walking one. Geno Encina allowed two more runs on a home run among six hits and a walk with three strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings. Nick Hartman pitched two scoreless innings to finish the game, allowing a hit and striking out two.

The offense rallied for four runs in the bottom of the ninth, but the 11-run mountain was far too high for the Lugnuts to climb in one inning. Nick Sinay had an outstanding game, going 3/4 with a double and two RBI while Josh Palacios was 2/3 with a walk and a run. Bradley Jones and Ryan Hissey each were 1/4 with a double with Hissey driving in a run.
