The Blue Jays’ minor league affiliates went 3-0 on Wednesday, with only the Lansing Lugnuts not in action as their series finale with Clinton was called due to rain.

 

Buffalo Bisons 7, Syracuse Chiefs 1

 

Cesar Valdez, recently acquired by the Blue Jays, made his first start for the Buffalo Bisons as they thumped the Syracuse Chiefs 7-1. Valdez went five hitless innings, striking out a pair and walking one, needing just 65 pitches to get through his Buffalo debut. Mat Latos made his return with a scoreless inning, giving up a hit while Luis Santos emerged from the bullpen, getting himself into trouble with two walks and a hit before shutting the door. Matt Dermody pitched a perfect eighth and Wil Browning came on for the ninth and surrendered a run on two hits and a walk with one strikeout.

Jake Elmore had one of his better games for the Bisons, going 2/4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Rowdy Tellez just missed a home run, settling for a double and a walk and driving in a pair. Shane Opitz was 2/4 with two runs and Raffy Lopez drove in two. Christian Lopes hit a double as did Jason Leblebijian.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 4, Hartford Yard Goats 3

 

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (11-21) got on the right side of the win-loss ledger, riding on five outstanding innings from Sean Reid-Foley in a 4-3 victory over the Hartford Yard Goats. Reid-Foley allowed just one run on three hits without walking anyone and striking out seven. The young righty is one of the club’s top prospects got five groundouts and three flyouts, needing 80 pitches to get through the five innings. He was succeeded by Chris Rowley, who dominated the Yard Goats, giving up just one hit and striking out seven batters in just three innings. Tim Mayza completed the game, pitching the ninth inning but made things a bit nerve-wracking, giving up two runs on a two-run home run before shutting the door on the Yard Goats, getting two strikeouts in the final frame.

The Fisher Cats had just seven hits in the game, getting a pair from Gunnar Heidt including a single and a double. Harold Ramirez hit his second home run of the year, a solo shot in the fourth inning, while Jonathan Davis was 1/4 with an RBI, a sac fly and a run. Tim Lopes also had a sac fly and Ryan McBroom was 1/3 with a walk.

Dunedin Blue Jays 4, Tampa Yankees 2

 

After being shut out by the Tampa Yankees on Tuesday, the Dunedin Blue Jays rose early and defeated the same club by a 4-2 score in Wednesday’s 10:30 am start. Angel Perdomo threw five scoreless innings, scattering four hits and four walks with five strikeouts. Connor Eller walked two more but kept the Yankees off the scoreboard with two more innings. Tom Robson allowed two unearned runs in the eighth and Andrew Case came into lock down the win, stranding two inherited runners and completing the game with 1 1/3 innings, striking out two.

Josh Almonte made a big impact in his third appearance of the year, going 2/4 with a two-run home run and totalled three RBI. Connor Panas was 1/2 with a walk and two runs and, notably, Carl Wise was 1/4 in his first game of the year and Juan Kelly was 0/3 in his first game catching of the season as both Max Pentecost and Danny Jansen had the day off.
