May 1, 2017 Toronto Blue Jays Minor League Report

Just two of the Blue Jays’ four full-season teams were in action on Monday night and both clubs notched a win.

Roster Notes: Danny Barnes was recalled by the Toronto Blue Jays.

 

 

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 4, Reading Fightin’ Phils 1

 

Two home runs among their eight hits led the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (9-14) to a 4-1 win over the Reading Fightin’ Phils on Monday night. Ryan McBroom was 2/4 with his second home run in as many games, scoring twice while Richard Urena hit his first of the season, going 1/4. Harold Ramirez was 2/4 with an RBI and a run while Emilio Guerrero was also 2/4 with a double and an RBI.

Francisco Rios had a strong start, allowing one unearned run over seven innings and giving up eight hits and one walk with four strikeouts. Chris Rowley earned his first save of the season with two innings of no-hit ball. He didn’t walk anyone but he hit two batters and struck out three.

Dunedin Blue Jays 5, Tampa Yankees 4

 

Danny Jansen

An early burst of four runs in the third inning gave the Dunedin Blue Jays (14-11) a cushion to work with and a fifth run in the fifth inning gave the club all they needed to beat the Tampa Yankees 5-4. Danny Jansen hit his third home run of the year, going 2/4 with two runs while Mike Reeves, fresh off of hitting his first home run, was 2/4 with a double. Lane Thomas was 1/4 with a double and two RBI while Juan Kelly was 1/3 with a double, a walk, two RBI and a run.

T.J. Zeuch picked up his second win with a solid start. Zeuch worked 5 1/3 innings and was charged with two runs on seven hits but didn’t walk anyone and struck out six. Connor Eller relieved Zeuch and allowed one of his two inherited runners to score but didn’t allow any of his own in 1 2/3 innings, striking out two. Danny Young gave up his first two earned runs of season over his 1 1/3 innings, allowing a two-run home run. in the ninth before making way for Andrew Case. Case got the final two outs (one by strikeout) to earn his third save.
