June 5, 2017 Toronto Blue Jays Minor League Report

The DSL Blue Jays were the only club to win on Monday with two of the Blue Jays’ minor league teams not in action.

 

Buffalo Bisons 1, Lehigh Valley IronPigs 12

The Buffalo Bisons got hammered in their series-opening loss to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs 12-1. Luis Santos took the loss, allowing five runs on five hits and four walks in 5 1/3 innings, striking out three but Matt Dermody was charged with four runs in just 2/3 of an inning in the sixth. Wil Browning gave up two more in the seventh and Dominic Leone allowed a final run in the eighth.

Shane Opitz was 2/3 with a double and a run while MIke Ohlman and Jarrod Saltalamacchia each hit a double.

Dunedin Blue Jays 9, Daytona Tortugas 10

 

A seven game losing streak has evened the Dunedin Blue Jays’ record thanks to a 10-9 loss to the Daytona Tortugas. Despite outhitting the Tortugas 17 to 11, the Blue Jays still couldn’t make up all the ground thanks to three Daytona home runs while the Blue Jays didn’t leave the yard once. Max Pentecost was 3/5 with an RBI and a run while Juan Kelly was 3/5 with a double and an RBI and Connor Panas was 3/4 with a walk and three runs. Josh Almonte drove in two, going 2/5 with a triple and a run while Cavan Biggio was 2/4 with a walk, two RBI and a run. Bradley Jones was 1/5 with a double, Carl Wise was 1/4 with a double and an RBI and J.C. Cardenas and D.J. Davis were each 1/5 with Davis stealing a base.

Lucas Harrell made another start for Dunedin, going four solid innings, allowing just a run on two hits with three strikeouts. Conor Fisk took the loss, allowing three home runs among eight hits over 2 2/3 innings, giving up seven runs in total. Philip Walby allowed two more runs finishing the seventh with a third of an inning, allowing another home run and Kender Villegas finished the game with a scoreless eighth.

Roster Notes: T.J. Zeuch was placed on the disabled list and Lucas Harrell was activated off the temporarily inactive list.

DSL Blue Jays 8, DSL Orioles 0

 

The DSL Blue Jays won their second game of the season, beating the DSL Orioles 8-0 with their pitching staff impressing, throwing their second consecutive shutout. Naswell Paulino started and struck out five in just 2 1/3 innings, allowing one hit and one walk. Adolfo Molina got the win, tossing 1 2/3 innings, allowing two hits and two walks with a strikeout. Gaudy Ramirez impressed, striking out six batters in 2 2/3 innings, walking only two while Yunior Hinojosa went 1 1/3 scoreless innings and Brayan Mejia finished the game with a scoreless ninth.

Yhon Perez, the DH, was 2/4 with a walk, an RBI and a run while second baseman Kenny Mauricio was 2/2 with an RBI and a run before leaving the game. Victor Figuereo was 1/3 with a triple, a walk and an RBI and Warnel Valdez was 1/4 with a double and a run.
