The Blue Jays’ organization was even on Thursday, winning four and losing four games in action all across the system.

 

Buffalo Bisons 4, Rochester Red Wings 5

 

The Buffalo Bisons (36-44) weren’t able to solve the Rochester Red Wings, as they finished their series losing four out of five games with a 5-4 loss. Brett Oberholtzer wasn’t bad, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits and three walks over 5 2/3 innings, and Matt Dermody stranded two runners, striking out one in his inning of work. Chris Rowley took the loss, allowing two runs in 2 1/3 innings on five hits and a walk with two strikeouts.

Gregorio Petit led the way with two hits and a walk, hitting his second home run of the year and scoring twice. Jon Berti was 2/5 with an RBI and a stolen base while Roemon Fields was on base twice, going 1/3 with a walk and two stolen bases. Rowdy Tellez also stole a base, going 0/4 with a walk. Dwight Smith, Jr. was 1/4 with a double and a walk and SHane Opitz wa 1/3 with a triple, a run and a walk.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 9, Portland Sea Dogs 5

 

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats saw their offense open up for nine runs on 15 hits to snap a three-game losing streak, beating the Portland Sea Dogs 9-5. Andrew Guillotte was 3/5 with an RBI and a run while Tim Lopes was 2/4 with a double and four RBI. Ryan McBroom hit his ninth home run of the year, going 2/5 with a double as well as the dinger while Jonathan Davis had a stellar all-around game, going 2/3 with a walk, a home run, three runs and a stolen base. Alex Monsalve was 2/4 with a run and Richard Urena was 1/5 with a double and an RBI while Gunnar Heidt was 1/4 with a double, a walk and a run.

Jon Harris had one of his best starts of the year, tossing seven innings and allowing just two runs (one earned) on five hits and a walk with five strikeouts. Justin Shafer walked two but didn’t allow a run while Dusty Isaacs got into trouble in the ninth inning, allowing four hits and getting charged with three runs, pitching just one third of an inning. Tim Mayza got one out but allowed two of his three inherited runners to score and Andrew Case earned the save by getting the final out without any further damage.

Dunedin Blue Jays 3, Bradenton Marauders 7

 

The Dunedin Blue Jays  continue to flounder, losing their match 7-3 to the Bradenton Marauders. The good news was that Dalton Pompey began another comeback following concussion symptoms but was 0/3. Michael De La Cruz was 2/4 with his first Dunedin home run ths year, driving in two runs while Juan Kelly was 2/4 with a double and a home run. Lane Thomas was 1/3 with a walk and a run.

Josh DeGraaf made the start, allowing nine hits and three runs over 3 2/3 innings. Philip Walby stranded two runners and threw two hitless innings, walking one and striking out two. Kirby Snead allowed two runs over two innings and Zach Jackson, letting both inherited runners from Snead score, gave up two runs of his own in 1/3 of an inning.

Roster Notes: Dalton Pompey was sent to Dunedin on a rehab assignment.

 

Lansing Lugnuts 9, Bowling Green Hot Rods 11

 

Another big offensive day from the Lansing Lugnuts wasn’t enough as they fell 11-9 to the Bowling Green Hot Rods. Bo Bichette only had one hit but he was 1/4 with a home run, two walks, two runs and a stolen base. Joshua Palacios was on base three times, going 2/5 with a double, a walk, two RBI, two runs and two stolen bases. Vladimir Guerrero was 2/5 with a walk, a double, an RBI and a run and Edward Olivares was 2/5 with a triple and two runs. Yeltsin Gudino also had two singles and a run.

Osman Gutierrez allowed eight runs on nine hits and three walks in four innings while Daniel Lietz held the line, for three innings but not before allowing two of his three inherited runners to score. Lietz struck out three in his three frames. Jared Carkuff allowed a run on three hits and a walk in two innings and Griffin Glaude took the loss, giving up a two-run home run in the 10th inning.

Vancouver Canadians 2, Eugene Emeralds 1

 

The Vancouver Canadians also needed extra innings but got a walk-off win, beating the Eugene Emeralds 2-1 in 12 frames. In the end it was Norberto Obeso singling and coming around to score on a couple of wild pitches (after a couple of walks and a sac bunt). Obeso was 2/5 with a run while Kevin Vicuna was 2/5. Kacy Clemens was also 2/5. Brock Lundquist was 1/4 with a triple, a walk and a run.

Kyle Weatherly started, giving up just one hit and four walks in 5 2/3 innings, striking out four. Brayden Bouchey gave up a run on one hit, striking out two in 1 2/3 innings while Miguel Burgos allowed a runner that Bouchey left on to score, getting a blown save, but not allowing a run of his own in 1 2/3 innings, striking out three. William Ouellette tossed an extended appearance, throwing three hitless innings, walking one and striking out two to pick up the win.

Bluefield Blue Jays 2, Pulaski Yankees 5

 

The Bluefield Blue Jays lost their fourth game in a row, falling 5-2 to the Pulaski Yankees. The offense was quiet, getting just five hits including Mc Gregory Contreras‘s first home run of the year. Ryan Noda was 1/3 with a walk and a run and Jesus Severino was 1/3 with a double.

Randy Pondler allowed five runs (three earned) on seven hits with five strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings. Kelyn Jose struck out five, walking just one and giving up one hit in 2 2/3 innings and Ty Tice struck out two in his inning of work.

GCL Blue Jays 6, GCL Yankees West 5

 

The GCL Blue Jays (3-1) defeated the GCL Yankees West club by a narrow, 6-5 margin on Thursday. Hagen Danner hit his first professional home run, going 1/4 with two RBI while Davis Schneider was 2/3 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run. D.J. Neal drove in three, going 2/3 with a double and a walk while Dominic Abbadessa was 2/4 with a walk and a stolen base.

Brody Rodning started, allowing two runs (one earned) on two walks and having a batter reach on an error over an inning and two batters. Claudio Galva came in, giving up three runs on four hits and a walk, striking out four. Gaudy Ramirez earned the win, striking out four in 2 2/3 almost perfect innings (hitting a batter) while Justin Watts struck out four in two innings, walking one and earning the save.

Player of the Game: D.J. Neal and Davis Schneider

 

DSL Blue Jays 4, DSL Mariners 2

 

It took 11 innings but the DSL Blue Jays defeated the DSL Mariners  4-2 on Thursday. Yhon Perez had three hits, a walk and a stolen base, driving in one and Andres Martinez was 2/4 with two doubles, a walk and an RBI, adding a run. Hugo Cardona was 2/4 with a triple and two runs while Steward Berroa was 2/5 with an RBI.

Nathanael Perez started strongly, going four innings with one unearned run on three hits and a walk against, striking out four. Alexander Molina and Adolfo Molina each tossed two scoreless innings, giving up two hits, walking one and striking out one each. Yunior Hinojosa earned the win, allowing an unearned run over three innings, striking out three.
