The DSL Blue Jays managed the only win for a Blue Jays’ affiliated team and with an off day for the Dunedin Jays and a rainout in Bluefield, the clubs finished 1-5 overall on Monday.
Buffalo Bisons 2, Pawtucket Red Sox 3
In a tightly-contested game, the Buffalo Bisons lost 3-2 after Adam Lind hit two-run home run in the top of the eighth for the Pawtucket Red Sox. Nick Tepesch allowed just a run on three hits and two walks in six innings, striking out five, putting the Bisons in a good position to win but Luis Santos allowed two runs on the Lind home run over two innings, striking out two. Jake Petricka finished it, striking out one in the ninth.
The Bisons had just six hits including a single and triple from Roemon Fields who also walked and drove in two runs. Dwight Smith Jr. was 2/4 and Rowdy Tellez and Danny Jansen each had a single.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 6, Portland Sea Dogs 8
Facing the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats lost 8-6 to the Portland Sea Dogs despite home runs from two of the Fisher Cats’ biggest stars. Bo Bichette had a big game, going 3/4 with two doubles, a home run, two RBI, three runs and a stolen base. Cavan Biggio hit his Eastern League-leading 16th home run, going 2/4 with three RBI. Harold Ramirez had two hits and Jon Berti was 1/4 with two runs.
T.J. Zeuch took the brunt of the Portland Sea Dogs’ assault, allowing seven runs on eight hits (including two home runs) and three walks with one strikeout in 3 2/3 innings. Dusty Isaacs allowed the eighth run on a solo home run among two hits, striking out two and walking one. Travis Bergen allowed a hit in 2 1/3 innings, striking out four and Kirby Snead struck out one in the ninth.

Lansing Lugnuts 0, Lake County Captains 6
The Lansing Lugnuts lost their first game of the second half, getting shut out by the Lake County Captains 6-0. The Lugnuts had just five hits including a single, double and a walk from Norberto Obeso. Yeltsin Gudino, Matt Morgan and Reggie Pruitt each had a single.
Colton Laws went four innings, allowing four Lake County runs on eight hits and a walk with four strikeouts while Brayden Bouchey gave up a run on two hits with four strikeouts in three innings. Brody Rodning finished, allowing an unearned run on two hits with two strikeouts.

Vancouver Canadians 0, Spokane Indians 6
The Vancouver Canadians were held to just six hits in a 6-0 shutout at the hands of the Spokane Indians. Nick Podkul was 2/4 with two doubles and Sterling Guzman was 2/3 with a double.
Elio Silva started, allowing five runs on nine hits with five strikeouts in five innings. Orlando Pascual walked one in the sixth and Connor Law finished by giving up a run on two hits and a walk in two innings, striking out one.

Bluefield Blue Jays, Princeton Rays
Game postponed because of rain.
GCL Blue Jays 5, GCL Braves 11
Despite scoring four runs in the bottom of the ninth, it wasn’t enough to overcome what was a 10-run Braves lead at the beginning of the inning and the GCL Blue Jays lost 11-5 to the GCL Braves. Cal Stevenson was 3/4 with a double and a run and Jordan Groshans was 2/3 with a double before coming out of the game for Hector Guerrero who was 1/2 with two runs. Yorman Rodriguez hit a three-run double, going 1/5 and Steward Berroa was 2/4.
Alejandro Melean allowed three home runs in just two innings of work, adding up to six runs on six hits and three walks with three strikeouts. Brennan Price gave up three runs on five hits with a walk, striking out one in two innings and Jackso Rees allowed an unearned run on one hit and a walk with a strikeout in his professional debut since signing as a non-drafted free agent. Luis Alvarez gave up a run in two innings, allowing two hits and striking out one and Nicolas Medina struck out four in two perfect innings.

DSL Blue Jays 9, DSL Orioles 8
After scoring six runs in the bottom of the first, the DSL Blue Jays might have thought they were in control but the Orioles kept chipping away (despite the Blue Jays adding a run in the fourth and eighth), tying the game in the top of the ninth. It took a Jhon Solarte single to drive in Jose Ferrer to score the ninth and winning run in the bottom of the 10th for a 9-8 victory by the DSL Jays. For Solarte, it was his third hit and second RBI as he also walked twice and scored twice, adding two stolen bases. Rainer Nunez also had three hits, going 3/5 with a double and a run. Jose Rivas was 2/5 with a double and an RBI and was caught stealing. Gustavo Ruiz drove in two runs with a double and Hanley Acevedo was 1/5 with a double and two runs, adding a stolen base. Jose Ferrer was 1/4 with a walk and two runs. Miguel Hiraldo was 1/5 with a double and an RBI but made two of the club’s four errors.
Ronald Govea allowed four runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk in 3 2/3 innings with one strikeout. Franniel Polanco tossed four innings, giving up two unearned runs on three hits and three walks with three strikeouts and MIguel Olivo threw 2 1/3 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks with one strikeout.
