Another win for the Jays and a loss for the Orioles means that the Jays’ cushion on top of the AL East has grown to 2.5 games!
Buffalo Bisons 0, Columbus Clippers 0 – suspended in 4th inning
New Hampshire Fisher Cats 5, Portland Sea Dogs 1
Fresh off being named to the MLB Futures Game on All-Star Weekend in Minnesota and his name being bandied about in trade rumours, Daniel Norris went out and dominated the Portland Sea Dogs, striking out 10 in 5 2/3 innings of work, allowing one run on three hits and three walks. Every player in the lineup contributed at least one hit with Kenny Wilson continuing his hot streak with a 2/3 game that included a walk and a triple and Jonathan Jones who went 2/4 with a single and a triple. Matt Newman hit his fourth home run of the year, going 1/3 with a walk, two RBI and two runs scored.

Dunedin Blue Jays 5, Daytona Cubs 6
Matt Boyd was stung a bit in his outing for the D-Jays, going only four innings and allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks but struck out six batters. Chad Girodo, uncharacteristically, allowed another two runs (one earned) on six hits and three walks in three innings while Danny Barnes was charged with the loss, allowing the Cubs to score in the bottom of the eighth. Andy Fermin had a huge game, going 4/5 with a two singles, a double and a triple while Gustavo Pierre had a 3/4 game with two doubles and two runs scored. Dalton Pompey, also named to the MLB Futures Game, went 2/5 with a double and a triple while Dwight Smith, Jr. was 2/5 with two RBI.

Lansing Lugnuts 5, West Michigan Whitecaps 4
The Lugnuts rallied late and held on to win against a strong pitching club, the West Michigan Whitecaps. Shane Dawson started for the Lugs, giving up two runs on a two-run home run in the fifth inning before making way for Roberto Espinosa. Dawson had a final line of five hits, two walks and four strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings. Espinosa and Silverstein each gave up a run but Phil Kish and Griffin Murphy were able to get through the end of the game with the victory, earning Murphy his 13th save. The Lugnuts only had five hits including doubles from Matt Dean, Mitch Nay and Justin Atkinson. D.J. Davis was 1/3 with a walk and a stolen base (and only one strikeout) as well as an outfield assist.

Vancouver Canadians 3, Hillsboro Hops 0
The Vancouver Canadians got back at the Hillsboro hops for shutting them out on Monday with a shutout of their own on Tuesday. 2014 eighth-round pick Justin Shafer started for the C’s and went 3 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and striking out five. Daniel Lietz provided two hitless innings but walked three and Jose Fernandez took the save, allowing one hit and striking out five batters over the last two innings. For the hitters, Ryan Metzler, the Jays’ 9th round pick this year, was 2/3 with a walk and Michael De La Cruz picked up two RBI on a triple . Ryan McBroom hit another double, going 1/4 and Franklin Barreto was 0/4 with no errors.

Bluefield Blue Jays 5, Kingsport Mets 6
The Bluefield Blue Jays got out to an early, 4-1 lead, but the Mets kept chipping away, gradually getting within striking distance before scoring three runs in the bottom of the ninth to walk off with a win. Josh Almonte had a 2/4 game while Gabriel Cenas was 2/3 with two doubles and two RBI. On the mound, Jesus Tinoco started and allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks in four innings while Dusty Isaacs threw 2 2/3 innings, allowing one run on two hits (no walks) but struck out six. Connor Fisk and Chase Wellbrock were charged with the final three runs.

GCL Blue Jays 6, GCL Pirates 3
The GCL Blue Jays seem to be rounding into form thanks to the top of the order. Lane Thomas was 2/5 with an RBI and a stolen base while Yeltsin Gudino, a 17-year-old shortstop, was also 2/5. Juan Kelly continues to crush the ball, going 2/4 with a double but Matt Morgan, the Jays’ fourth round pick in 2014, hit his first professional home run, going 1/3 with the homer, two walks and three RBI. Evan Smith, last year’s fourth round pick, went six innings, surrendering just one run on four hits without walking anyone and striking out seven. 17-year-old Daniel Rodriguez allowed two runs over 2 1/3 innings and Joe Claver earned the win with 2/3 of an inning’s worth of work.

DSL Blue Jays 4, DSL Astros Orange 2
The DSL Jays picked up a rare win, getting a no-hit performance from Denis Dias but walked three batters and gave up an unearned run despite striking out five. Luis Sanchez finished strongly, throwing four innings and allowing one more run on three hits with two strikeouts. Rodrigo Orozco pushed his batting average over .300 with a 2/4 game while first baseman Enmanuel Moreta went 2/4 with a double and two runs and Miguel Almonte was 2/4 with a run and an RBI.

June 25 Preview
Buffalo Bisons (38-37)
The Bisons will have a mini-double header, completing last night’s suspended game that saw Liam Hendriks go four scoreless innings as well as the regularly scheduled game featuring Aaron Sanchez on the mound. Action gets going at 5:35 PM.
New Hampshire Fisher Cats (32-44)
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats send Scott Copeland to the mound against Henry Owens who’s 9-3 and has a 1.99 ERA for the Portland Sea Dogs. This game’s on MiLB TV at 6:00 PM ET.
Dunedin Blue Jays (48-27)
The D-Jays have a 7:05 PM start against Daytona in which Jesse Hernandez looks to right the ship after getting hit hard (allowing five runs in four innings) in his last outing.
Lansing Lugnuts (35-39)
The Lugnuts have a tough task on Wednesday, sending Frank Viola III to the hill against one of West Michigan’s top flight arms in Kevin Ziomek (5-5, 2.31 ERA). This one’s at 7:05 PM in Lansing.
Vancouver Canadians (6-4)
It’s Castro Time! Miguel Castro, who’s been looking the best of a trio of young, Latin American pitchers for the C’s, takes the hill against Anderson Placido of the Hillsboro Hops at 4:35 PM for a matinee that’s at a reasonable hour for us in the east.
Bluefield Blue Jays (2-4)
The Bluefield Blue Jays haven’t been announcing their starters until the day of the game so we don’t know who’s going to be taking the hill as they return home to play the Pulaski Mariners at 7:05 PM ET.
