With five games on the docket, the Blue Jays’ affiliates had just one win, coming from the Lansing Lugnuts.

 

Buffalo Bisons 2, Rochester Red Wings 6

 

The Buffalo Bisons scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to tie the score up with the Rochester Red Wings but couldn’t find an answer when the Red Wings scored four in the top of the 10th and went on to a 6-2 victory. Rowdy Tellez hit his fifth home run of the year, adding a double in a 2/4 day while Steve Pearce was 1/3 with a walk as the DH. Gift Ngoepe was 1/3 with a walk.

Chris Rowley had a strong start, allowing one run on three hits and three walks with two strikeouts. Al Alburquerque gave up another run on three hits over his inning, striking out two while Luis Santos took the loss. He threw two solid innings before staying in to start the 10th and allowed a hit and was ultimately charged with the winning run (unearned). Tim Mayza came on with just the one runner on and allowed him to score, surrendering another three runs (two earned) on a hit and three walks with one strikeout in 2/3 of an inning.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 5, Altoona Curve 9

 

Cavan Biggio

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats kept the game closer on Saturday than they did on Friday but still lost 9-5 to the Altoona Curve. Cavan Biggio hit his 14th home run of the year, going 1/3 with the three-run blast and another RBI from a sacrifice fly. Bo Bichette was 2/3 with a double, a walk, two runs and an error. Harold Ramirez was 2/4 with a double and an RBI and Jon Berti scrored twice, going 1/3.

Justin Dillon‘s ERA burped up to 7.91 as he allowed six runs on nine hits (including a home run) and two walks over 4 1/3 innings, striking out one. Kirby Snead gave up two more runs on two hits (including a home run) and two walks with two strikeouts over 1 1/3 frames. Zach Jackson struck out three in 2 1/3 perfect innings of relief, dropping his ERA to 1.78.

Dunedin Blue Jays

Lansing Lugnuts 6, South Bend Cubs 3

 

Reggie Pruitt

The Lansing Lugnuts won their second consecutive game hosting the South Bend Cubs, beating them 6-3 on Saturday. Ryan Noda didn’t take a walk or hit a home run but he did drive in two runs and went 2/4. Ryan Gold was 2/4 with a double and a run and Reggie Pruitt continues hit torrid hitting by going 2/4 with a double, an RBI, two runs and a stolen base. Matt Morgan was 1/3 with a walk and an RBI and Samad Taylor was 1/2 with a double, a walk, hit by pitch, RBI and run.

Donnie Sellers got the start, giving up three runs in six innings, allowing seven hits and a walk with a strikeout. Dany Jimenez allowed just two hits in two innings, striking out two. Brody Rodning earned his fourth save, walking one and striking out one in the ninth.

Vancouver Canadians 4, Eugene Emeralds 8

 

The Vancouver Canadians fielded a lineup that is likely much closer to what we’ll see consistently throughout the season but still lost 8-4 to the Eugene Emeralds. The club had just five hits including a triple and a walk from Nick Podkul who drove in two runs and scored once and a double from Jesus Navarro who drove in a run and stole a base. Mc Gregory Contreras, coming in in the eighth inning, was 1/2 and Reilly Johnson was 1/3 with a walk and a run. Canadian Tanner Kirwer was 1/3 with a run.

Jose Espada struck out the side in the first inning but things went downhill from there. Espada lasted just three innings, allowing five runs on five hits and a walk with five strikeouts. Marcus Reyes gave up an unearned run on three hits in the fourth while Nick Allgeyer allowed a run on a hit with one strikeout in the fifth. Denis Diaz had the sixth, walking one and Cobi Johnson struck out two in the seventh. Juan Nunez took the eighth, walking two and giving up two hits to lead to a run with one strikeout.

DSL Blue Jays 1, DSL D-backs1 8

 

The DSL Blue Jays’ offense went quiet against the DSL D-backs1 squad, losing 8-1. Jhon Solarte was 1/3 with a double and a walk and Kenny Maruicio was 1/3 with a triple.

Junior Guzman allowed two runs (one earned) on just one hit with seven strikeouts over four innings before Brayan Mejia allowed three runs on three hits and a walk in one frame. Eliezer Bello also gave up three runs on four hits and a walk in one inning. Christian Reyes threw two scoreless innings, walking one and striking out two.
