The Vancouver Canadians got their season underway with a shutout loss but the Blue Jays’ affiliates were 3-2 overall.
Buffalo Bisons 4, Rochester Red Wings 3
The Buffalo Bisons held off the Rochester Red Wings for a 4-3 victory at home with Sean Reid-Foley picking up this second Triple-A win. Reid-Foley went 7 1/3 innings, dominating the Red Wings, giving up just one run on four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts for the victory. Tim Mayza finished the eighth and Conor Fisk was charged with two runs (one earned) on two hits and a walk with one strikeout to get the save.
Roemon Fields was 2/3 with a walk and a run while Richard Urena was 2/4 with a double, an RBI and was caught stealing. Darnell Sweeney went 2/3 with a double, a home run, three RBI and a run and Lourdes Gurriel was 1/3 with a double and a walk, scoring once.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 1, Altoona Curve 10
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats were manhandled by the Altoona Curve in a 10-1 loss on Friday. Josh DeGraaf was tagged for five runs in 3 1/3 innings despite striking out four in the loss. Travis Bergen gave up another four runs on six hits (including a home run) with three strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings. Nick Hartman provided a scoreless inning as did Danny Young who allowed a hit and a walk with one strikeout. Dusty Isaacs surrendered a run in the eighth on a hit and a walk, also committing a balk and striking out one.
Jonathan Davis had a pair of hits including a double, a stolen base and a run for the Fisher Cats. Jon Berti was 1/3 with a walk and an RBI, Bo Bichette was 1/4, Gunnar Heidt was 1/4 with a double and Connor Panas hit a single in four trips.

Off for the All-Star Break
Lansing Lugnuts 6, South Bend Cubs 4
The Lansing Lugnuts got their final homestand underway before the All-Star with a 6-4 win over the South Bend Cubs. Kevin Vicuna rapped out four hits, missing the cycle by a home run, with two singles, a double and a triple, driving in three and scoring once. Brandon Grudzielanek had a pair of hits including a double and an RBI while Andres Sotillo was 2/4 with a double and a run. Reggie Pruitt was on base three times, going 1/2 with a double and two walks, scoring once while Samad Taylor was 1/5 with an RBI and Brock Lundquist was 1/4 with a double and an RBI. Yeltsin Gudino was on twice, going 1/3 with a double and a walk, scoring a run.
Maximo Castillo took the win, moving to 5-2 while allowing just four hits and two walks in five scoreless innings, striking out five batters. Brayden Bouchey allowed a run in two innings, giving up two hits and striking out one while Emerson Jimenez allowing three runs on a four hits (including a home run) and a walk with four strikeouts in two innings.

Vancouver Canadians 0, Eugene Emeralds 2
The Vancouver Canadians opened their season on the road against the Eugene Emeralds and took the loss 2-0. Randy Pondler was solid, allowing two runs on six hits with three strikeouts over five innings and Dalton Rodriguez pitched two hitless frames, walking one and striking out two. Elio Silva allowed a hit and struck out one in the eighth.
The Canadians had just four hits including singles from Sterling Guzman (1/3, BB), second baseman Brandon Polizzi (1/3), Canadian Owen Spiwak (1/3) and shortstop Jesus Navarro (1/3).

DSL Blue Jays 5, DSL Reds 3
The DSL Blue Jays notched another win against the DSL Reds, this time winning 5-3. The Blue Jays had just four hits including a triple from Pedro Hurtado who was 1/2 with two RBI and two walks. Erickvi Celedonio was 1/3 with a walk and a run.
Lazaro Estrada tossed three innings, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk with four strikeouts. Franniel Polanco pitched three perfect innings, striking out one before William Gonzalez allowed a run over two innings with two strikeouts, earning the win. Miguel Olivo got his second save, striking out one in the ninth.
