The Dunedin Blue Jays cruised to a 4-1 win over the Charlotte Stone Crabs thanks to great pitching from Conner Greene and slugging from several players including Ryan McBroom. Tim Mayza provided two scoreless innings, allowing a hit and striking out a batter and Carlos Ramirez earned his seventh save, striking out one in a perfect ninth.

Roster Notes: Gunnar Heidt was promoted from the Lansing Lugnuts while Mike Reeves was placed on the DL. Jose Fernandez was activated off the DL.

Lansing Lugnuts 4, Great Lakes Loons 1

The Lansing Lugnuts opened their double header against the Great Lakes Loons by unleashing a Canadian righty on the Midwest League and getting enough offense to win 4-1. Jordan Romano, making his return to action after Tommy John surgery last year, has been stretched out in extended spring training and needed 81 pitches to throw a complete-game two hitter, allowing one solo home run and one more hit over seven innings. He didn’t walk anyone and struck out seven.

The lineup also saw a new player in John La Prise who DHed in his Midwest League debut, going 1/1 with a double, an RBI and two runs. Juan Kelly had two hits, going 2/3 with a run and an RBI while Josh Almonte was 1/2 with a walk and an RBI. J.C. Cardenas also drove in a run, going 1/3.

Player of the Game: Jordan Romano

Roster Notes: Gunner Heidt was promoted to Dunedin while John La Prise was assigned to Lansing out of extended spring training. Danny Young and Jordan Romano were assigned to the Lugnuts from extended spring training while Jon Harris was activated off the DL. Going on the DL were Patrick Murphy and Tayler Saucedo while Daniel Lietz was moved to the Vancouver roster.

Lansing Lugnuts 11, Great Lakes Loons 1

Following a great pitching performance in Game 1 of the double header, the Lugnuts got another terrific outing, this time from the Jays’ 2015 first round pick, Jon Harris, who came off the DL to throw five innings of two-hitter at the Great Lakes Loons in an 11-1 victory. Harris (now 5-1 on the season), walked three and struck out seven, only allowing one run. Ryan Cook mopped up the Loons, striking out four and walking one in two innings.

The offense roared to life, scoring 11 times on 11 hits and seven walks, getting three-hit games from Jake Thomas (3/4, 2B, 3 RBI, .452 batting average) and MWL All-Star Juan Kelly (3/5, 2B, HR, 2 R). Austin Davis had two hits and an RBI and Connor Panas put the cherry on his day with a walk, a home run, four RBI and two runs. John La Prise was 1/1 with three walks, a stolen base and two runs.
