I’m back from my sojourn to the Ottawa area for a couple of performances at a Medieval Festival where Wi-Fi wasn’t part of the package. It’s time to catch up on the weekend’s action in the Blue Jays’ minor leagues. The Bisons went 1-2 over the weekend, heading into the All-Star Break with a 50-41 record and sit six games out of first place in the International League North and two games back of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in the wildcard race.

Friday

Buffalo Bisons 1, Lehigh Valley IronPigs 3

Newly signed Wilmer Font made his Buffalo Bisons debut with a decent outing, but the Bisons couldn’t get to Ben Lively or the IronPigs’ bullpen in a 3-1 loss. Font went six innings, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks without striking out anyone to take the loss while Franklin Morales allowed a run on a solo home run in his inning and Pat Venditte scattered two hits in his two innings.

Dalton Pompey returned from his concussions to go 1/4 while Matt Dominguez hit a solo home run and walked to account for the Bisons’ only run. Casey Kotchman and Domonic Brown each hit a double.

On Saturday, the Bisosn were victimized by a a couple of Lehigh Valley home runs off Scott Diamond while the hitters again failed to do much. Scott Diamond was relatively in control, allowing five runs on eight hits (including two home runs) in six innings of work before Ben Rowen (2 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 1 K) and Colt Hynes (1 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 K, 1 HR) added some fuel to the fire closing out the game.

The hitters had four hits including a home run for Matt Dominguez for the second game in a row.
