The Blue Jays’ hitters continue to struggle, getting only six hits against the Los Angeles Angels in a 5-2 loss. There was definitely better news from the minor league teams.

Buffalo Bisons 7, Rochester Red Wings 6

The Buffalo Bisons finally managed to win one in Rochester, scoring the game winner on an Erik Kratz home run in the top of the ninth. For Kratz, it was his second hit (he had a double earlier) and he finished with three RBI on the night. Anthony Gose was 3/5 with a stolen base, A.J. Jimenez continues to swing a hot bat, going 2/4 with a double and Ryan Goins did the same, adding an RBI. P.J. Walters gave up all six runs in three innings but Austin Bibens-Dirkx (3 IP), Rob Rasmussen (2 IP) and Bobby Korecky saved the day with six scoreless innings.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 2, New Britain Rock Cats 0

In the first game of a supposed double header, Radhames Liz dominated the Rock Cats, throwing seven innings of shutout ball, allowing just two hits and striking out eight. Jon Berti was 2/2 with a double and a walk but Mike Crouse had the game of the day, going 2/3 with a double and a home run.

Game 2 was suspended in the third inning due to inclement weather.

Dunedin Blue Jays 9, Tampa Yankees 3

Jesse Hernandez got a good start in, picking up the win for the D-Jays and going 5 1/3 innings, giving up three runs on seven hits. Blake McFarland struck out four in 2 2/3 hitless innings and Justin Jackson finished it off with two strikeouts in the ninth. The bats came out to provide nine runs thanks to a 2/4 game including a home run from Kevin Patterson. Dwight Smith, Jr. also had a great game, stealing two bases and going 2/3 with a double, a walk and two RBI. L.B. Dantzler was 2/4 with a double and three RBI and Gustavo Pierre was also 2/3.

Four pitchers combined for a five-hit shutout, led by Joey Aquino who went four innings, allowing one hit and two walks. Alberto Guzman earned the win, throwing two innings and striking out three while Conor Fisk gave up two hits in his inning and Michael Kraft got the save, pitching two innings. The batters scattered 12 hits, cashing in only four runs and getting a hit from every starter except for Rowdy Tellez and Andres Sotillo. Trent Miller went 2/4 with a double and two RBI while Gabriel Cenas went one better, going 2/3 with a home run, a walk and two RBI. Jesus Gonzalez added three hits including a double for the Blue Jays.

GCL Blue Jays 4, GCL Astros 0

The GCL Jays got a very nice shutout of the Phillies and featured the professional debut of one of the Jays’ 2014 first-round picks, catcher Max Pentecost who went 0/3 with a strikeout before making way for Juan Kelly. Despite the four runs, the Blue Jays only had five hits including two from Andres De Aza and two from Deiferson Barreto. Yeltsin Gudino drove in two runs, going 1/4 with a walk. The pitching side of things was very economical for the Blue Jays with Conner Greene starting and throwing five innings of three-hit shutout with five strikeouts. Angel Perdomo finished the game, earning a save and throwing four hitless innings, walking one and striking out seven.

Player of the Game: Conner Greene and Angel Perdomo

DSL Blue Jays 6, DSL Brewers 10

It must have been a sloppy game in San Pedro de Macoris as the two teams combined for eight errors (four each) leading to nine of the 16 runs being unearned. For the Blue Jays, Osman Gutierrez allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits in 3 1/3 innings while Jairo Rosario allowed two (one earned) over 2 2/3 innings. Francisco Rodriguez was 2/3 with two doubles and an RBI while Junior Vasquez was 2/5.
