The Blue Jays’ farm produced a 3-3 record in six games on Sunday.

 

Buffalo Bisons 6, Syracuse Chiefs 5

 

With a run in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Buffalo Bisons went ahead and held off the Syracuse Chiefs for their third win in a row. Darrell Ceciliani drove in two with his seventh home run of the year, going 2/4 with two runs while Dalton Pompey (2/4, 2B, 2 R), and Ryan Goins (2/3, 2B, BB, 2 RBI) each had two hits. Matt Dominguez hit a double.

Chris Leroux allowed five runs (four earned) on three hits and three walks with two strikeouts over six innings. Bo Schultz earned the win, pitching a hitless seventh while Danny Barnes (1 IP, 1 K) and Ryan Tepera (S, 1 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 1 K) finished the game.

Roster Notes: Junior Lake cleared waivers and was sent outright to the Bisons.

 

 

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 1, Richmond Flying Squirrels 4

 

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats dropped their Sunday game to the Richmond Flying Squirrels 4-1. The offense had only six hits and Christian Lopes (1/4) drove in the club’s only run and Roemon Fields (1/4) stole two bases.

Conner Greene was on the mound for the Fisher Cats and he didn’t allow a hit through five innings. Unfortunately, after retiring the first batter in the sixth, Greene couldn’t get any of the next five batters out, giving up two singles, two walks and a home run. In total, Greene allowed four rungs on three hits and three walks with three strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings before Tim Mayza came on, walked a couple of batters but got out of the inning. Brady Dragmire finished the game with two scoreless innings, giving up two hits.

Dunedin Blue Jays 6, Jupiter Hammerheads 5

 

The Dunedin Blue Jays rallied to score two runs in the bottom of the ninth to walk off with a win against the Jupiter Hammerheads on Sunday. Jorge Flores led off the ninth with a double and he was followed by Anthony Alford who doubled him home. After a groundout and two intentional walks, Danny Jansen drove home the winning run with a sacrifice fly to center. While Jansen only had one other hit and a walk, he finished the game with three RBI. Anthony Alford (2/4, 2B, BB, RBI, 2 R, OF Asst.), Richard Urena (2/5, R), Jorge Flores (2/4, 2B, R) and Jonathan Davis (2/4, 2B, BB, R) had two hits each.

Francisco Rios got the start for the Blue Jays, giving up four runs (three earned) on three hits (including a home run) and three walks but struck out seven over five innings. Alonzo Gonzalez followed him with three innings of one-run ball, allowing two hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Dusty Isaacs pitched a 1-2-3 ninth, striking out one to earn the win.

Lansing Lugnuts 2, Fort Wayne TinCaps 3

 

Facing MLB.com’s #21 prospect in hard-throwing, 18-year-old righty Anderson Espinoza, the Lansing Lugnuts were looking to bounce back from a heart-breaking, 15-inning loss on Saturday night. The game started promisingly with Andrew Guillotte‘s double and Jake Thomas‘s single, leaving runners on first and third to start the game. Unfortunately, a failed double-steal (Guillotte was thrown out at the plate) set the tone for the Lugnuts, who squandered several opportunities to score throughout the game.

Lefty Ryan Borucki allowed a run in the first inning but worked his way out of trouble repeatedly, getting a couple of double play balls and kept the Lugnuts in the game for seven strong innings, giving up just the one run on eight hits and didn’t walk anyone and struck out three.

In the top of the 8th, the Lugnuts tied the game at one, thanks to a J.C. Cardenas double and then another double by Jake Thomas who drove him in. The next inning, Connor Panas hit a one-out triple and then scored on a wild pitch, enabling the Lugnuts to get to the bottom of the ninth with a 2-1 lead.

Kirby Snead, who had thrown a perfect eighth, getting three groundball outs, struggled in the ninth. He allowed back to back singles and, after a sac bunt put runners on second and third, he gave up a shallow sacrifice fly that tied the game. After intentionally walking the next batter, Snead got the ground ball he had been looking for but it was up the middle and a shifted-over John La Prise couldn’t come up with the ball cleanly as the winning run crossed the plate and the Fort Wayne TinCaps had their second walk-off win in a row.

The Lugnuts had seven hits including four doubles (one each from Andrew Guillotte, Jake Thomas, Justin Atkinson and J.C. Cardenas) and one triple (from Panas). Thomas was 2/4, driving in a run while Panas added a walk.

Vancouver Canadians 3, Tri-City Dust Devils 1

 

The Vancouver Canadians beat the Tri-City Dust Devils 3-1, getting a strong start from Luis Sanchez. Sanchez went 5 2/3 innings, allowing a run on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Geno Encina (1 1/3 IP, 3 H, 2 K), Zach Jackson (1 IP, 2 H), and Griffin Glaude (S, 1 IP, 1 H, 2 K) finished the game.

Jacob Anderson (2/4, 2B, RBI, R) and Bryan Lizardo (2/3) had two hits each while J.B. Woodman was 1/4 with a double but three strikeouts. Nash Knight was 1/4 with an RBI and a run.

Player of the Game: Luis Sanchez

 

Bluefield Blue Jays 2, Burlington Royals 3

 

In a rain-shortened game, the Bluefield Blue Jays lost their series opener with the Burlington Royals. Juliandry Higuera was the starter and allowed three runs on five hits and a walk in four innings with two strikeouts.

The Blue Jays only had two hits including a double from Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. and a home run from Bradley Jones.
