July 11, 2017 Toronto Blue Jays Minor League Report

With only two minor league games in action to clear the way for the MLB All-Star Game, the Blue Jays’ two lowest minor league clubs swept their games for a 2-0 record on Tuesday.

GCL Blue Jays 3, GCL Yankees West 2

 

The GCL Blue Jays needed 11 innings to defeat the GCL Yankees West by a 3-2 score. In the end, the game was decided by the international tie breaker with Davis Schneider starting the inning at second base who was moved to third by Aldo Ovando‘s single and a fielder’s choice by Jonelvy Molina brought Schneider in to score the game’s winning run. Dominic Abbadessa was 2/4 while Otto Lopez and Logan Warmoth were each 1/4 with a double. Jonelvy Molina’s second RBI came at the end of the game, while his first one of the game resulted from his first home run of the season, in the seventh inning.

Roither Hernandez started and went 1 1/3 innings, walking one while Emmanuel Reyes tossed 2 2/3 innings, giving up a hit and a walk, striking out two. Gaudy Ramirez allowed two unearned runs on a hit and two walks and Connor Law took over for him, stranding a runner and throwing 1 2/3 innings of one-hit ball, striking out two. Justin Watts and Jonathan Cheshire each tossed two scoreless innings, striking out two with Cheshire picking up his first professional win.

DSL Blue Jays 3, DSL D-backs1 0

 

The DSL Blue Jays rebounded from their loss, beating the DSL D-backs1 by a 3-0 score, despite getting just four hits and taking advantage of three D-backs errors. Nathanael Perez started, tossing six scoreless innings and giving up just one hit while striking out four. Juan Diaz threw 1 2/3 innings, allowing a hit and striking out three and Elixon Caballero got his fifth save with three strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings.

Yhon Perez had two of the Blue Jays’ hits, going 2/4 with a walk while Steward Berroa was 1/2 with a triple, two walks and two RBI.
