Arizona Fall League

We’ll start with the Arizona Fall League, MLB’s league for its top young stars. Anthony Alford is picking up where he lft off, hitting .278/.316/.500 in four games with a double and a home run in 18 at bats. On the down side, Alford has struck out six times, almost a third of the time.

Danny Jansen is having a great start to his season in the AFL, hitting .429/.500/.429 with six singles in 14 at bats, striking out just once and walking three times.

Ryan McBroom had an outstanding day at the ballpark on Monday, going deep twice to mark the first time he’s done that as a professional. McBroom raised his average to .238 and has a .273 OBP and .571 SLG with a double, two home runs and a whopping 10 RBI in 21 at bats over five games.

On the mound in the AFL, Matt Dermody has been the best of the bunch, allowing a run on two hits with two strikeouts in two innings.

Conner Greene lasted just 2 1/3 innings into his first start, giving up two runs in a hit and a walk with two strikeouts.

Tim Mayza has also struggled, giving up six runs on three hits and five walks with three strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings.

Justin Shafer gave up two runs on three hits (including a home run) in 1 2/3 innings with two strikeouts.

John Stilson allowed two runs on three hits and a walk with one strikeout in 1 1/3 innings over two appearances.
