The Toronto Blue Jays minor league affiliates went 5-3 on Wednesday as the Dominican Summer League Blue Jays lost their playoff series.

 

Buffalo Bisons 5, Pawtucket Red Sox 7

 

 

 

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 8, Reading Fightin Phils 2

 

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats’ scored eight runs for the second consecutive game, beating the Reading Fightin Phils 8-2. Harold Ramirez (2/5, RBI, R), Lourdes Gurriel (2/5, 2B, RBI, R) and Gunnar Heidt (2/2, 2B, 2 BB, 2 R, SB) each had two hits while Tim Lopes was 1/2 with a double, two walks and three RBI. Jonathan Davis also walked twice, going 1/3 with a run.

Conner Greene started and went 4 2/3 innings, giving up two runs on six hits and three walks with four strikeouts. Kender Villegas gave up  two hits over 1 1/3 innings, getting the win while Jose Fernandez had two strong innings, allowing a hit and striking out two with Andrew Case finishing the game, giving up a hit and striking out one in the ninth.

Dunedin Blue Jays 4, Florida Fire Frogs 13

 

The Dunedin Blue Jays got spanked by the Florida Fire Frogs, losing 13-4. The Blue Jays had just seven hits, getting two singles, a walk, an RBI and a run from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and a home run and two RBI from Juan Kelly. Andres Sotillo was 1/2 with a double and a walk and Bo Bichette was 1/4 with a double and an RBI.

Tayler Saucedo gave up four runs in his 6 1/3 innings, allowing eight hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Adonys Cardona stranded two runners but gave up five runs (four earned) on three hits and a walk after failing to retire any of the first five batters to come to the plate in the eighth. Alonzo Gonzalez came in and allowed a run on a walk with a strikeout in 1/3 of an inning and Daniel Lietz finished the frame, giving up another three runs on four hits in 2/3 of an inning.

Lansing Lugnuts 10, Lake County Captains 3

 

The Lansing Lugnuts opened their series with the Lake County Captains by beating up on them 10-3. Ridge Smith had a triple and a home run, driving in five runs and scoring twice, going 2/5. Mitch Nay also hit a home run and drove in three, scoring twice, going 2/4. David Jacob was 2/3 with a double, two walks and two runs while Yeltsin Gudino was 2/5 with a double and two runs. Joshua Palacios was 2/4 with a walk and a run.

Mike Ellenbest gave up just four hits but three of them were solo home runs as he allowed three runs with three walks and three strikeouts over six innings. Griffin Glaude allowed just a hit over two innings and Chris Hall gave up two hits and struck out two in the ninth.

Vancouver Canadians 5, Boise Hawks 2

 

The Vancouver Canadians picked up their 40th win of the season, beating the Boise Hawks 5-2. Nate Pearson proved to be human, giving up two runs on three hits and three walks with five strikeouts in three innings to start the game. Brayden Bouchey struck out four in two innings, walking one and picking up his first win of the year. Travis Bergen gave up three hits and two walks but struck out six in 3 2/3 innings and William Ouellette got the save, getting one out.

Deiferson Barreto was 2/3 with an RBI and two runs while Norberto Obeso was 2/3 with a double and two RBI and both were hit by a pitch. Brandon Polizzi went 2/4 with a double and an RBI. Riley Adams was on base twice, going 1/3 with a walk and a run.

Bluefield Blue Jays 5, Johnson City Cardinals 2

 

The Bluefield Blue Jays beat the Johnson City Cardinals 5-2 despite giving up two home runs and hitting none of their own. Randy Pondler just went one inning, giving up two runs (on both home runs), giving up three hits and striking out one. Josh Winckowski came on for five scoreless innings, allowing only two hits with two strikeouts. Connor Law got the win, striking out four in two innings, walking one and Ty Tice struck out the side in the ninth, walking one for the save.

Kevin Smith drove in three runs with a 2/5 day and Ryan Noda was 2/4. Chavez Young was 1/1 with a walk, an RBI and a run.

GCL Blue Jays 2, GCL Yankees West 1

 

The GCL Blue Jays edged the GCL Tigers West 2-1 on Wednesday. Felipe Castaneda allowed just one unearned run, going five innings and giving up four hits with three strikeouts. Emerson Jimenez gave up just one hit in two innings, striking out three. Brennan Price made his first appearance since August 1 and allowed two hits with one strikeout in a scoreless eighth and Rafael Monsion earned the save with a scoreless ninth.

The Blue Jays had just four hits including two from Luis De Los Santos who drove in a run and stole a base. Andres Guerra scored once, walking twice.

DSL Blue Jays 4, DSL Dodgers2 7

 

The DSL Blue Jays lost their playoff series to the DSL Dodgers2 club after losing 7-4 on Wednesday. Emanuel Vizcaino started, giving up six runs (three earned) on five hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Nicolas Medina allowed two hits with one strikeout over 2 1/3 innings and Jhon Victorino gave up a run on a solo home run over two innings. Jeison Contreras walked one in the ninth.

Warnel Valdez drove in a run and scored a run, going 2/4 while Hugo Cardona was also 2/4.
