With the top three Blue Jays’ affiliates playing against the Yankees’ top three affiliates, the Jays’ minor leaguers were kept from winning, losing all six of their matches overall with the Lansing Lugnuts idle, the Dunedin Blue Jays having their game suspended and the Bluefield Blue Jays playing a double header.

 

Buffalo Bisons 0, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 4

 

The Buffalo Bisons are limping down the home stretch and were shut out by the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Tuesday 4-0. Scott Copeland was solid for the Bisons, going eight innings and giving up four runs (three earned) on eight hits and one walk with four strikeouts. Danny Barnes struck out the side in the ninth to finish it off.

The Bisons had just three hits all night, off the bats of Matt Dominguez, Jesus Montero and A.J. Jimenez.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 4, Trenton Thunder 6

 

Home runs from Dwight Smith, Jr. and Roemon Fields weren’t enough as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats fell 6-4 to the Trenton Thunder. Both Fields and Smith had two hits each with Smith walking twice, driving in two run and scoring twice. Fields was 2/4 with a solo home run, a stolen base (his 43rd of the season) and two runs. Reese McGuire was on base three times, going 1/2 with two walks and an RBI. Shane Opitz was 2/3 with a double and a stolen base.

Wilmer Font struck out eight but allowed three runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings. John Anderson took over and gave up three runs but only one was earned over two innings, taking the loss while Brady Dragmire walked one and struck out two in 1 1/3 innings.

Roster Notes: Starlyn Suriel was promoted to the Fisher Cats from the Lansing Lugnuts.

Roster Notes: The Lugnuts received Geno Encina from the Vancouver Canadians and sent Starlyn Suriel to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

 

Vancouver Canadians 4, Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 5

 

The Vancouver Canadians made a valiant attempt at a comeback, scoring twice in the bottom of the ninth and matching the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes’ two in the top but it still wasn’t enough as they fell 5-4. Denis Diaz made the start for the Canadians and walked four and gave up three runs on three hits with two strikeouts in five innings. Zach Jackson surrendered just one walk with two strikeouts in two innings and Griffin Glaude finished the game with two more runs allowed on two hits and a walk but struck out four over two innings.

Rodrigo Orozco and Andres Sotillo had two hits each with Sotillo driving in a run and Orozco scoring. Nash Knight was 1/3 with a walk and two runs and Bryan Lizardo and Juan Tejada each hit a double.

Roster Notes: Christian Cox was promoted to Vancouver from Bluefield and Geno Encina was sent to Lansing from Vancouver.

 

Bluefield Blue Jays 1, Princeton Rays 4

 

In the first game of their double header against the Princeton Rays (the completion of the game started on August 16), the Bluefield Blue Jays managed only two hits in a 4-1 loss. Reggie Pruitt was responsible for both of those hits while Nick Sinay walked and scored.

Jose Espada started two weeks earlier and went two innings for the Blue Jays, walking one and striking out two before the game resumed Tuesday. Kyle Weatherly allowed just one hit, a solo home run, but struck out four in three innings while Stuart Holmes went the final three innings, allowing three runs on two hits and a walk with three strikeouts, taking the loss.

Roster Notes: Christian Cox was promoted to the Vancouver Canadians and Richard Reina was promoted to Bluefield from the GCL.

 

Bluefield Blue Jays 2, Princeton Rays 5

 

In the second game on Tuesday night, the Blue Jays once again lost by three runs, this time 5-2, generating just three more hits. Bradley Jones had two of them, a double and his 16th home run as he extended his league lead in home runs to three. Jones drove in one run but scored twice. Levi Scott had the other hit and an RBI.

Joel Espinal allowed five runs on six hits and two walks over three innings and Brayden Bouchey was very strong, giving up just one hit with five strikeouts over three innings.

GCL Blue Jays 6, GCL Tigers West 7

 

The GCL Blue Jays went down fighting, taking the GCL Tigers West to 11 innings before losing 7-6 and getting eliminated from the GCL playoff picture. Bo Bichette hasn’t missed a step after losing time due to an injury and went 2/4 with a double and RBI, scoring a run. Yorman Rodriguez was 2/4 with a home run and two RBI, scoring twice while Francisco Rodriguez was 1/3 with a double, a walk and an RBI.

Tyler Olander started and worked two innings, giving up a walk and a hit with one strikeout before Wilfri Aleton gave up six runs over 1 2/3 innings on two home runs. Daniel Moritz allowed two inherited runners to score but otherwise gave up no runs over 2 1/3 innings, allowing three hits and striking out three after signing a free agent contract with the Blue Jays and making his pro debut. Yonardo Herdenez went four more innings, allowing four hits with two strikeouts and Ty Sterner took the loss, throwing 2/3 of an inning and giving up an unearned run on two hits and a walk with two strikeouts.
