Weather prevented three of the Blue Jays’ affiliates games from happening but the clubs went 3-2 over those five games, getting two shutouts in the process.

 

Buffalo Bisons, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders

 

Game postponed due to rain.

Roster Notes: Brandon Cumpton was optioned to Buffalo from Toronto.

 

 

New Hampshire Fisher Cats , Erie SeaWolves

Dunedin Blue Jays 9, Charlotte Stone Crabs 0

 

The Dunedin Blue Jays continued their streak of outstanding pitching on the way to a 9-0 shutout win over the Charlotte Stone Crabs. Zach Logue tossed six shutout innings, allowing just one hit and one walk with eight strikeouts on his way to his seventh win with the D-Jays. Angel Perdomo provided two innings of relief, giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts and Jackson McClelland struck out one in the ninth.

Alberto Mineo led the offense, going 3/5 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs. Riley Adams was 2/4 with a double, two runs and a walk and Ivan Castillo was 1/3 with two walks, a triple, an RBI and a run. Logan Warmoth was 1/3 with a walk and three RBI while Joshua Palacios was 1/4 with two RBI. Rodrigo Orozco was on base twice, going 1/3 with a walk and a run.

Roster Notes: Nick Hartman was sent to the Dunedin Blue Jays from the New Hampshire Fisher Cats and Juliandry Higuera was placed on the 7-day DL.

Lansing Lugnuts 4, South Bend Cubs 5

With four runs in the bottom of the ninth, the Lansing Lugnuts tied the game but the South Bend Cubs scored one in the top of the 10th that went unanswered in a 5-4 win over the Lugnuts. In his Midwest League debut, Vinny Capra was 2/4 with a double, an RBI and a run but he also committed a fielding error. Jesus Navarro was 2/4 with a double and Norberto Obeso was 1/4 with a triple and two RBI, scoring a run. Ryan Noda was 1/4 with a walk and a run and Freddy Rodriguez also added a double.

Jordan Barrett started the game and held the Cubs to two runs on seven hits with a walk and three strikeouts over seven innings. Dalton Rodriguez gave up two runs on three hits (including a home run) and a walk in the eighth and Andrew Deramo took the loss, giving up an unearned run on a hit with a strikeout in two innings.

Vancouver Canadians 7, Hillsboro Hops 0

 

Randy Pondler

The Vancouver Canadians handled the Hillsboro Hops, shutting them out 7-0. The Canadians got a stellar performance from Randy Pondler who threw six shutout innings, allowing just four hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Justin Watts threw a scoreless frame, striking out one and Marcus Reyes allowed a hit and a walk with four strikeouts in two innings.

Brandon Polizzi was among four Canadians with two hits, driving in two runs and scoring once, adding a couple of stolen bases. Otto Lopez (2/5, 2 RBI), Jesus Severino (2/4, BB, RBI, R) and Sterling Guzman (2/4, RBI, R) also had two hits. Tanner Kirwer (1/5, R, SB), Jake Brodt (1/4, 2B, BB, 2 R), Christopher Bec, 1/2, 3 BB, R, SB) and Nick Podkul (1/4, BB, RBI) all had a hit.

Bluefield Blue Jays, Danville Braves

Game postponed due to inclement weather.

Roster Notes: Gabriel Moreno was promoted to the Bluefield Blue Jays from the GCL.

 

GCL Blue Jays 2, GCL Yankees West 3

 

Joseph Reyes

The GCL Blue Jays scored twice in the first inning but couldn’t hold on as the GCL Yankees West chipped away and eventually walked off with a win in the bottom of the ninth in a 3-2 game. Ryan Thurston stepped into a starting role, tossing four one-hit innings, giving up just one unearned run with two walks and five strikeouts. Elixon Caballero struck out one in the fifth and Luis Alvarez allowed a run over three innings, giving up a hit and striking out four. Alexander Molina didn’t get an out but walked three and gave up the run in the ninth for the loss.

Joseph Reyes went 2/3 with a double, a walk and an RBI while Yhordegny Kelly drove in a run. Leondardo Jimenez was 1/4 iwth a run and Adrian Ramos was 1/2 with a walk, a stolen base and was picked off and caught stealing.

Roster Notes: Gabriel Moreno was promoted from the GCL to Bluefield.

DSL Blue Jays 4, DSL D-backs1 2

 

The DSL Blue Jays scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to defeat the DSL D-backs1 by a 4-2 score. Miguel Hiraldo was 2/4 with a double and two runs scored while Kenny Mauricio was 2/3. Alberto Rodriguez hit a double, going 1/4 with an RBI and a run while Erickvi Celedonio (1/4) and Pedro Hurtado (0/3, SF) each had an RBI.

Santos Moreno went 6 2/3 innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks, striking out two. Juan Acosta provided 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief, allowing three hits and a walk with two strikeouts to get the win.
