Wednesday was a different day, but had almost the same result as Tuesday as the Syracuse Chiefs won their second in a row against the Buffalo Bisons 6-1. The game was 1-1 until the bottom of the sixth when the Chiefs started getting to the Bisons’ bullpen. Scott Copeland had a solid start, going 5 1/3 innings and giving up just one run on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Chad Girodo relieved him and gave up two runs in the remainder of the sixth inning while Matt Dermody allowed two more runs in the seventh. Bobby Korecky pitched the eighth and gave up a solo home run among two hits and a walk.

Matt Dominguez was 3/3 with a walk and a run while Jesus Montero was 2/4.

With three new bats in the lineup, the Fisher Cats generated nine runs to defeat the Akron RubberDucks 9-6. In addition to having Harold Ramirez and Reese McGuire in the lineup, the Fisher Cats also received Richard Urena from Dunedin and all three made big impacts in their Fisher Cats debuts. Urena was 3/5 with a triple and two runs while Ramirez also had three hits including a double and added a walk, driving in one and scoring twice. McGuire had three RBI, going 1/4 with a double. Rowdy Tellez also had a big game, going 3/5 with a double, an RBI and two runs. Ryan Lavarnway was 1/4 with a two-run home run.

Shane Dawson got the start and allowed six runs in five innings but struck out five. Jason Berken threw the sixth, striking out one while John Stilson provided two scoreless innings, striking out two and giving up two hits while Wil Browning picked up his 10th save, pitching the ninth and giving up a hit.

Player of the Game: Harold Ramirez, Richard Urena and Rowdy Tellez

Roster Notes: Reese McGuire was officially assigned to the Fisher Cats while Richard Urena was promoted to New Hampshire. Ryan McBroom was sent back to Dunedin and John Anderson and Melky Mesa were put on the DL.

Dunedin Blue Jays 7, Clearwater Threshers 2

Ryan “McBoom” McBroom didn’t waste any time making his presence known in the Dunedin Blue Jays’ lineup as he returned from a brief assignment to New Hampshire. Ryan McBroom was 2/4 with a home run, a stolen base and two RBI while L.B. Dantzler also had two hits. Gunnar Heidt, however, was the man of the night, going 3/4 and coming a triple short of the cycle, scoring three times and driving in three. Anthony Alford was 1/4 with a walk and an RBI.

Luis Santos, another player with Double-A time, went 6 2/3 innings to get his second win as a D-Jay this year. He allowed two runs on six hits and three walks with six strikeouts. Dusty Isaacs finished the seventh, allowing one of the two inherited runners to score while Conor Fisk (1 IP, 1 H, 1 K) and Jose Fernandez (1 IP, 1 H, 1 K) finished the game.

Player of the Game: Gunnar Heidt

Roster Notes: Ryan McBroom was sent back to the Dunedin Blue Jays from New Hampshire and Richard Urena was promoted to New Hampshire.

Lansing Lugnuts 2, Bowling Green Hot Rods 7

J.C. Cardenas

The Lugnuts continue to struggle with the bats and the club has gotten a scare with one of its top prospects. Max Pentecost hit a triple in his only at bat, driving in a run and coming around to score but was injured on the slide, leaving the game and apparently have his left shoulder seen to (his right, throwing, shoulder was the one that has had a couple of surgeries). J.C. Cardenas continues to be hit, going 2/3 while Andrew Guillotte was 2/4 with a run.

Jordan Romano went six innings, allowing four runs on six hits and three walks with three strikeouts and Daniel Lietz had a rare rough outing, allowing three run son a hit and two walks over two innings. He must have allowed his frustrations to boil over as he and manager John Schneider were ejected in the ninth inning. Starlyn Suriel came on for Lietz and allowed a hit and a walk but didn’t give up a run in the final frame.

Player of the Game: J.C. Cardenas and Andrew Guillotte
