With the DSL Blue Jays finished their season, the rest of the Blue Jays’ minor league clubs were 4-3 in their seven games. Rowdy Tellez hit a milestone, blasting his 20th home run of the season for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

 

Buffalo Bisons 3, Lehigh Valley IronPigs 2

 

The Buffalo Bisons finally eked out a win against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, getting a strong performance from Casey Lawrence on the mound. Lawrence allowed just two runs (one earned) on six hits and a walk with five strikeouts over seven innings. Ryan Tepera got his 18th save of the season with two innings of one-hit ball, striking out two.

Jesus Montero had another two hits and a walk to push his batting average to .321 while Casey Kotchman was 3/3 with an RBI. Andy Burns was 1/3 with a walk and a solo home run while Erik Kratz was 1/3 with an RBI.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 7, Trenton Thunder 8

 

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats fought the Trenton Thunder down to the wire, and then a little longer but still lost 8-7 on Monday. Down by two, the Fisher Cats rallied in the bottom of the ninth thanks to a two-run double off the bat of Ryan Lavarnway. Four players had four hits each including Rowdy Tellez who was 2/5 with a double and a home run, adding a walk and driving in three runs. Christian Lopes was 2/4 with a double, two walks and two runs while Emilio Guerrero was 2/3 with a walk, a double and a run. Derrick Loveless also had two hits with a double and an RBI, scoring a run.

Shane Dawson started and gave up six runs on 10 hits (including three home runs) over 6 2/3 innings. Alonzo Gonzalez allowed a run on a solo home run over three innings while Murphy Smith took the loss, giving up a run on a hit and a walk in 1 1/3 innings.

Dunedin Blue Jays 2, Tampa Yankees 0

 

The two teams totaled just seven hits but the Dunedin Blue Jays scored the game’s only runs in a 2-0 victory over the Tampa Yankees. Luis Santos was outstanding, giving up just four hits and a walk over seven innings and striking out six. Jose Fernandez walked one and struck out one in the eighth and Dusty Isaacs got his fifth save with a perfect ninth, striking out one.

Jonathan Davis and Ryan McBroom had a hit each with an RBI while Anthony Alford walked twice.

Lansing Lugnuts 12, Lake County Captains 6

 

The Lansing Lugnuts sent 15 batters to the plate in the third inning of Monday’s game against the Lake County Captains and went on to beat them 12-6. All nine players had at least one hit and six of the nine had two each. Andrew Guillotte drove in three, going 2/5 with a double and two runs and Juan Kelly was on base four times with two singles, two walks, three runs and an RBI. Joshua Palacios (2/5, RBI, R), Connor Panas (2/5, 2B, 2 RBI, R), Carl Wise (2/5, RBI, R) and Ryan Metzler (2/4, BB, 2 R) had two hits while Cavan Biggio was 1/4 with a walk, an RBI and a run.

T.J. Zeuch made his Lansing debut, going just three innings and giving up five runs on seven hits but struck out seven and didn’t walk anyone. Daniel Young took over in the third, allowing all three inherited runners to score but was not charged with any of his own over three innings, giving up three hits and striking out two. Jackson Lowery allowed the sixth run on two hits in two innings and Andrew Case finished the game with a perfect ninth.

Roster Notes: T.J. Zeuch was promoted from the Vancouver Canadians and Jordan Romano was placed on the 7-day DL.

 

Vancouver Canadians 4, Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 13

 

When it seemed as if the Vancouver Canadians were mounting a late comeback, scoring three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes decided to put their collective foot on the Cs’ windpipe to keep the game out of reach in a 13-4 loss for the home Canadians. Dalton Rodriguez wasn’t good in his 5 2/3 innings, allowing five runs on six hits and three walks despite five strikeouts. Gabe Noyalis had an ERA-bloating 1/3 of an inning in which he allowed three runs on two hits and two walks. Evan Smith allowed five more runs over three innings including two home runs.

D.J. McKnight drove whatever offense there was for the Canadians, going 3/4 with a triple and a run before being pinch-hit for by Brett Wellman who had been mostly a first-base coach for the Cs. Wellman made his first plate appearance of the season, taking a walk.

Bluefield Blue Jays 2, Johnson City Cardinals 3

 

With errors leading to three unearned runs, Juliandry Higuera was let down by the Bluefield defense in a 3-2 loss to the Johnson City Cardinals. Higuera allowed three unearned runs on four hits and three walks with four strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings before Chris Hall had a stellar finish to the game, allowing just one hit over 3 1/3 innings.

Kalik May (2/2, 2 2B, RBI, R) and Bradley Jones (2/4, 3B, R) had two hits each while Reggie Pruitt was 1/3 with a walk and a stolen base and Nick Sinay stole two bases despite going 0/3.

GCL Blue Jays 3, GCL Tigers West 1

 

The GCL Blue Jays staved off elimination with a 3-1 win over the Tigers West but just one GCL Phillies win or one Blue Jays loss will bounce the Jays from the playoff picture. David Jacob had a big game for the Blue Jays, going 3/4 with a double and two RBI while Bo Bichette, freshly activated from the DL went 1/2 with a walk and a double, scoring two runs and pushing his batting average to .423. Mitch Nay had the only other hit for the Jays.

Maximo Castillo went five excellent innings, giving up just three hits including a solo home run while striking out six. Mitch McKown pitched a perfect sixth and Gregor Mora allowed a hit and a walk in 1 1/3 innings and William Ouelette gave up two hits and a walk with two strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings.

Roster Notes: Bo Bichette was activated off the DL.
