In nine games on Thursday, the Blue Jays’ minor leaguers went 3-6 as the upper level teams (from Lansing up) all lost their games.

 

Buffalo Bisons 3, Rochester Red Wings 6

 

The Buffalo Bisons lost their game to the Rochester Red Wings on Thursday to the Rochester Red Wings, setting up the finale of the five-game home-and-home series. Jason Berken started and allowed five runs (four earned) on four hits and three walks in 5 2/3 innings while Chad Girodo followed with a run allowed on two hits and two walks in 1 1/3 innings and Dustin Antolin finished off with two strikeouts in the ninth.

The Bisons had six hits including doubles from Ryan Goins and Andy Burns (who drove in two runs). Jesus Montero was 1/3 with a single, a walk and a run.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 2, Binghamton Mets 3

 

The Binghamton Mets beat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats for the second game in a row, wasting excellent games from Rowdy Tellez and Jorge Saez. Tellez was 3/4 with two doubles and Saez was 3/4 with a double and a run (and caught the only runner trying to steal).

Jeremy Gabryszwski allowed three runs on 11 hits and three walks with six strikeouts before Brady Dragmire (1 IP, 1 H), John Stilson (1 2/3 IP, 3 K) and Murphy Smith (1 1/3 IP, 1 H, 1 BB) took over the rest of the way.

Dunedin Blue Jays 1, Daytona Tortugas 4

 

The Daytona Tortugas finished off a suspended game with the Dunedin Blue Jays and came out on top of a 4-1 win. Justin Shafer went the first two innings (on Wednesday) and gave up two runs on five hits (including a a home run) and two walks. Chris Rowley went the rest of the way, giving up two runs on five hits (including a home run) and a walk with six strikeouts in seven innings.

Dickie Joe Thon led the attack with two doubles and a walk, going 2/3, and a stolen base. D.J. Davis had two hits and a run.

Roster Notes: Ryan Cook was promoted to the Dunedin Blue Jays from Lansing.

 

Dunedin Blue Jays 6, Daytona Tortugas 7

 

The regularly scheduled game for Thursday looked like the Blue Jays would rally for a win, particularly after they accrued six runs in the second and third inning but the Tortugas didn’t lose their cool, tying the game in the fifth, forcing extra innings and eventually winning in the 10th. Anthony Alford went deep, going 1/5 with a home run, two RBI and a walk but also struck out four times. Ryan McBroom was 1/2 with three walks, a run and three stolen bases while Dickie Joe Thon also stole his 23rd base of the year after taking a walk but also struck out four times. Aaron Attaway drove in two runs, going 1/4 with a double while David Harris was 1/3 with two walks and an RBI.

Luis Santos went five innings, allowing six runs (three earned) on seven hits and three walks, striking out four. Tim Mayza threw three strong innings, giving up just one hit and striking out three. Dusty Isaacs gave up two hits and struck out one in the ninth and Ryan Cook took the loss, giving up a solo home run in the 10th.

Lansing Lugnuts 1, Great Lakes Loons 5

 

The Lansing Lugnuts’ offense didn’t help out the pitching staff, getting just five hits and one run. Juan Kelly had two hits including a double and J.C. Cardenas also had a two-bagger.

On the mound, Justin Maese had a solid start, despite taking the loss. He went six innings and allowed two runs on five hits and a walk with five strikeouts before Tom Robson allowed another three runs on three hits with a strikeout over the final three innings.

Vancouver Canadians 4, Spokane Indians 0

 

The Vancouver Canadians got tremendous pitching in a 4-0 victory over the Spokane Indians. Denis Diaz gave up just one hit and two walks over six innings, striking out three. Nick Hartman got the save by pitching three innings and allowing four hits and a walk with four strikeouts to complete the shutout.

Bryan Lizardo had a single and a double and scored twice while Joshua Palacios was 1/3 with a walk, two RBI, a run and a stolen base.

Bluefield Blue Jays 14, Pulaski Yankees 9

 

The Bluefield Blue Jays never say die. After going down 8-7 in the bottom of the fourth, they stormed back with one in the sixth, one in the seventh and five more in the ninth to finish the game up on the Pulaski Yankees 14-9. Bradley Jones had two doubles, going 2/6 with five RBI and a run while Kalik May was 2/6 with a double, three RBI and a run. Nick Sinay was 1/4 but walked twice, stole a base and scored three times while Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. was also 1/4 with two walks and two runs. Reggie Pruitt was 0/4 but stole a base and scored twice.

The pitching staff didn’t look as bad as expected, giving up nine runs. Juliandry Higuera worked 3 1/3 innings, giving up eight runs but only three were earned as he gave up seven hits. Brayden Bouchey went 2 2/3 innings, allowing only a hit and a walk with four strikeouts and Angel Alicea struck out three, giving up a hit in two innings. Connor Eller allowed the final run but actually struck out four batters in his inning, giving up one run.

GCL Blue Jays 4, GCL Tigers East 3

 

Chavez Young followed up a four-hit game on Wednesday with two more hits on Friday as the GCL Blue Jays won again, beating the Tigers East by a 4-3 score. Young didn’t lead the club in hits as Manuel Herazo drove in three runs, going 3/4. David Jacob was 2/3 with a run.

Tyler Olander allowed two hits and a walk over 2 1/3 innings with two strikeouts and Alvaro Galindo gave up a run on two hits and three walks in 4 2/3 innings, striking out two. Orlando Pascual gave up two unearned run sin the final two frames without allowing a hit, walking two and striking out one.

Player of the Game: Manuel Herazo

 

DSL Blue Jays 6, DSL Padres 7

 

Despite playing at home, the DSL Blue Jays dropped their game with the DSL Padres, 7-6. Mc Gregory Conteras was 3/5 with a double, two RBI and a run while Jonelvy Molina was 3/5 with an RBI and a run. Yhordegny Kelly was 2/4 with two runs and a walk.

Jesus Colman allowed three runs, walking four and giving up five hits in 3 2/3 innings with three strikeouts. Elio Silva didn’t strike out anyone and allowed three more runs on three hits and two walks in 2 1/3 innings. Pedro Loficial allowed a run on two hits in the sixth, allowing the Padres to clear the bases after Silva left them loaded and Oscar Brito pitched two scoreless innings, walking one and striking out three to finish the game.
