In seven games in the Blue Jays’ minor league system, the Jays’ affiliates won four.

 

Buffalo Bisons 4, Charlotte Knights 2

 

The Buffalo Bisons pulled out another win, beating the Charlotte Knights 4-2 as Billy McKinney rides his hot streak. McKinney was 1/3 for The Herd with his 16th home run of the season (combined between two teams in the International League) and took a walk. Dwight Smith Jr. was 2/4 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run while Jonathan Davis was 2/5 with a double, an RBI and a run, adding a stolen base. Rowdy Tellez was 2/3 with a walk and an RBI and Michael De La Cruz hit a triple and scored a run.

Matt Tracy threw five scoreless innings to get his first win with the Bisons, allowing five hits and two walks with six strikeouts. Danny Barnes allowed two runs on three hits and a walk with one strikeout and Jose Fernandez walked one and struck out one in the eighth. Justin Shafer picked up his 15th save, giving up a hit and striking out one in the ninth.

Roster Notes: Tim Mayza was recalled to the Toronto Blue Jays and Thomas Pannone was sent back to Buffalo.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 2, Altoona Curve 3

 

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats fell 3-2 to the Altoona Curve, wasting a strong performance from Hector Perez. Perez went six innings, allowing just one run on a solo home run among two hits without walking anyone and striking out seven. Kirby Snead took the loss, giving up two runs on two walks and a hit in 1 /3 of an inning while Zach Jackson stranded his inherited runner, giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings. Andrew Case pitched a clean ninth.

The Fisher Cats had just seven hits including a solo home run from Max Pentecost who was 1/3. Forrest Wall was 1/2 with a double and two walks, scoring a run while Connor Panas was 2/4 with an RBI and Gunnar Heidt was 2/4.

Dunedin Blue Jays 5, Jupiter Hammerheads 6

 

In their third one-run loss in a row to the Jupiter Hammerheads, the Dunedin Blue Jays tied the game in the bottom of the ninth, only to lose 6-5 in 10 innings. Nash Knight was 2/3 with two runs and Rodrigo Orozco was 2/3 with a double, an RBI, a run and a stolen base. Yeltsin Gudino drove in a pair of runs, going 1/4 with a stolen base and a run and Joshua Palacios was 1/3 with two walks, an RBI and an outfield assist but was caught stealing.

The big news of the day for the D-Jays was the visit from Aaron Sanchez who continues to come back from injury. He gave up a run on two hits and four walks with three strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings. Bryan Baker, recently acquired as the player to be named later in the Oh deal, tossed 1 1/3 innings, allowing tow hits and striking out one. Angel Perdomo gave up three runs (one earned) on a hit and a walk with two strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings and William Ouellette surrendered a hit and a walk with three strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings. Jake Fishman took the loss, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and a walk with a strikeout in two innings.

Roster Notes: Bryan Baker was assigned to the Dunedin Blue Jays and Aaron Sanchez continued his rehab assignment with Dunedin.

Lansing Lugnuts 6, West Michigan Whitecaps 7

 

The Lansing Lugnuts couldn’t hold on to their early as the West Michigan Whitecaps completed their comeback in the bottom of the eighth inning, beating the Lugnuts 7-6. Samad Taylor continues his strong finish to the year and went 2/5 with a double and two runs. Brandon Grudzielanek also had a pair of hits and an RBI while Freddy Rodriguez was 2/4 with two RBI and a stolen base. Reggie Pruitt was 1/5 but hit his second home run of the year. Ryan Noda was on base twice, going 1/3 with a walk and a run.

Maximo Castillo had a stolid start, going six innings and giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits and a walk with eight strikeouts. Matt Shannon took the loss, giving up four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks with one strikeout in two innings.

Vancouver Canadians 5, Tri-City Dust Devils 2

 

Mc Gregory Conteras had a great day at the plate while the pitching was very solid for the Vancouver Canadians in a 5-2 win over the Tri-City Dust Devils. Contreras was 4/4 with a double, an RBI, a run and a stolen base while Otto Lopez was 2/4 with a walk, a home run and two RBI. Tanner Kirwer also his a home run, going 1/4 while Christopher Bec was 2/4 with a run and a stolen base. Jesus Severino and Brett Wright each hit a double.

Joey Murray started, allowing a hit and a walk with five strikeouts in just two innings. Sean Wymer got the win, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk with one strikeout in three frames. Joey Miller allowed two hits and two walks but no runs with one strikeout in two innings and Joey Pulido struck out one in a clean eighth. Cobi Johnson earned his ninth save, striking out one and allowing a hit and a walk in the ninth.

Bluefield Blue Jays

GCL Blue Jays 6, GCL Tigers West 4

 

Joseph Reyes shone with the bat as the GCL Blue Jays beat the GCL Tigers West 6-4. Reyes was 3/4 with a double and four RBI but was caught stealing twice while Warnel Valdez had a pair of hits including a double with a run. Adrian Ramos was 1/3 with a double, two walks, an RBI and two runs (and was picked off and caught stealing) and Jordan Groshans was 1/3 with a double and a walk.

Rafael Monsion went five innings, allowing two runs on six hits with a walk while Francisco Rios, still rehabbing in Florida tossed two perfect innings, getting four of six outs on the ground. Williams Moreno was charged with two runs on two hits and two walks in 2/3 of an inning, leaving two runners on for Luis Alvarez who stranded them both, shutting the door, allowing a hit and striking out two in 1 1/3 innings.

DSL Blue Jays 2, DSL D-backs1 1

 

All of the scoring was done in the 10th inning as the DSL Blue Jays, with just three hits in the game, beat the DSL D-Backs1 2-1 on Wednesday. Jose Rivas had a double, going 1/4 with a run while Erickvi Celedonio was 1/3 with an RBI on a sac fly and Rainer Nunez was 1/4 with an RBI.

Santos Moreno went 6 2/3 innings, giving up just four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. Nelfi Santos walked two in one inning, striking out one and Pedro Guzman struck out two in 1 1/3 innings. Jhoan Dominguez got the win, allowing an unearned run on a hit in the 10th.
