The Blue Jays’ minor league affiliates were 2-2 on Wednesday, getting an extra-inning win from the Bisons as well as a shutout from the Lansing pitching staff. New Hampshire’s offense continues to be ice cold while Dunedin couldn’t much anything going either.

 

Buffalo Bisons 2, Rochester Red Wings 1

 

In their second consecutive extra-innings game, the Buffalo Bisons came out on the positive side of this one, getting a walk-off single from Domonic Brown in the bottom of the 10th to win 2-1. Roberto Hernandez was activated by the Bisons and threw four innings of shutout ball, giving up three hits and a walk, striking out one. Arnold Leon made his Bisons debut, giving up the Rochester Red Wings’ only run in four innings, allowing three hits and a walk and striking out six. Dustin Antolin provided two innings of scoreless, two-hit relief to earn his first win as a Bison.

Andy Burns had a whale of a game, going 3/5 with a double while Domonic Brown had two hits including the game-winner. Casey Kotchman drove in the other run with a solo home run among his two hits.

Roster Notes: The Blue Jays promoted Ryan Tepera from Buffalo and optioned Pat Venditte to the Bisons while also activating righty Roberto Hernandez. Infielder Jon Berti was also promoted to Buffalo from New Hampshire.

 

 

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 0, Trenton Thunder 1

 

Playing an early game, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats got another day of offensive futility, getting only two hits (which were more than their total on Tuesday) in a 1-0 loss to the Trenton Thunder on Wednesday. Casey Lawrence, making his return to New Hampshire was excellent, allowing just one run on four hits and two walks in seven innings while striking out four. Danny Barnes and Colt Hynes collaborated to finish the game, splitting the eighth inning with Barnes striking out both batters he faced.

Melky Mesa was 1/3 with a double and Rowdy Tellez took two more walks while Ian Parmley had the club’s only other hit and added a stolen base.

Dunedin Blue Jays 1, Tampa Yankees 6

 

The Dunedin Blue Jays dropped another game to the Tampa Yankees as starter Kyle Westwood had another rough start, surrendering all six of the Yankees’ runs while the offense couldn’t get much going. Westwood was charged with six runs (five earned) on 11 hits while striking out only two in five innings of work. The bullpen was strong with Alonzo Gonzalez contributing two hitless innings, striking out three and Adonys Cardona only walking one in his inning. Matt Dermody finished the game with a scoreless inning, allowing two hits and striking out one.

The Blue Jays only had five hits including a single and a double by Dickie Joe Thon. Jason Leblebijian was on base twice with a single and a walk.

Lansing Lugnuts 6, Beloit Snappers 0

 

Starter Angel Perdomo led the Lugnuts to a shutout victory over the Beloit Snappers, striking out seven on the way to a 6-0 win. Perdomo threw 76 pitches over five innings and allowed only three hits and two walks along with the seven Ks. Gustavo Pierre, making his Lansing debut as a pitcher after starting the season in extended spring training, allowed a walk and a hit in his inning. Starlyn Suriel picked up his first save of the year, lowering his ERA to 2.08 with three innings of hitless relief, walking just two batters with three strikeouts.

The Lugnuts were efficient on the offense, translating their seven hits and five walks into six runs. Andrew Guillotte and Ryan Hissey continue to swing hot bats: they each had two hits with Guillote adding a walk and Hissey driving in a run with a single and a double. Juan Kelly drove in two with a double and J.C. Cardenas was 1/3 with a run, a walk and an RBI.
