Only two teams were in action for the Blue Jays’ minor league teams on Thursday night and both won in walkoff fashion!

Dunedin Blue Jays 10, Clearwater Threshers 9

 

Rodrigo Orozco

It took extra innings but the Dunedin Blue Jays got an RBI single from Bradley Jones to score their 10th run and walk off with a 10-9 win over the Clearwater Threshers, overcoming five errors as a club. While it was Jones’s only hit, Rodrigo Orozco scored three times, going 4/5 with an RBI and the club’s only stolen base in the offensive barrage. Joshua Palacios was on base five times, going 3/4 with two walks and three RBI. Richard Urena was 2/6 with a run and an RBI as he continues to rehab and Logan Warmoth had a single and a double with two runs. Nash Knight was 2/5 with a single, a double and two RBI to push his batting average to .343 while D.J. Davis pushed his average to .359 with a 2/4 game, hitting a double and taking a walk. Yeltsin Gudino was 1/3 with a walk and two RBI, scoring once.

Tayler Saucedo started, allowing four runs (three earned) over five innings, giving up six hits and two walks with seven strikeouts before making way for Nick Hartman who threw two perfect innings, striking out four. Jake Fishman was tagged with four runs (two earned) on three hits in 2/3 of an inning and William Ouellette pitched to one batter, giving up a hit that drove in a run. Kirby Snead came on with two runners on and allowed both to score (one charged to Ouellette and one to Fishman), allowing a hit and two walks with two strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings. Juliandry Higuera picked up the win, tossing a scoreless top of the 10th, striking out one.

Lansing Lugnuts 8, Dayton Dragons 7

 

The resilient Lansing Lugnuts came back to score four runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings, walking it off in an 8-7 victory over the Dayton Dragons. Norberto Obeso, making his season debut, was the hero in the end, saving his first hit of the year for heroics in the bottom of the ninth to drive Ryan Noda home to score the winning run. Noda was 2/5 with an RBI (but no walks) while Kacy Clemens was 2/5 with a triple, two RBI and a run and Christian Williams was 1/3 with two walks, a double and a run. Chavez Young was 3/4 with a walk, two runs and a stolen base but it was “El Grande,” Cullen Large who dominated the stat sheet. Large was 5/5 with two doubles, an RBI, three runs and a stolen base (and an error) in the victory.

Graham Spraker had a very solid start, going five innings and giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk with five strikeouts. Turner Larkins gave up two runs on a hit and a walk in 2/3 of an inning and Andy Ravel, allowing both inherited runners to score, tossed 2 1/3 innings, allowing three runs of his own to come in (two earned) on three hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Ty Tice got the win, pitching a scoreless ninth, giving up a walk and a hit but striking out two.

Roster Notes: Reggie Pruitt was placed on the 7-day DL and Norberto Obeso was assigned to Lansing from extended spring training.
