In three games played on Monday night, the Blue Jays affiliates went 1-2 on the day, getting a win from a massive offensive night in Lansing.

 

Buffalo Bisons 1, Durham Bulls 8

 

The Buffalo Bisons continued their road trip down to the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, getting their hats handed to them in an 8-1 loss. Joe Biagini was tagged for four runs on six hits (including a home run) and two walks, striking out three in 5 1/3 innings. Sam Moll allowed an inherited runner to score along with a runner of his own over two-thirds of an inning. Carlos Ramirez struck out two in a perfect inning of work while Chad Girodo gave up three runs on three hits (two of them home runs) in the eighth, striking out two.

Rowdy Tellez continues to show signs of life, going 2/4 while Danny Jansen (1/3) and Tim Lopes (1/3, 2B) had the club’s other two hits.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 5, Binghamton Rumble Ponies 8

 

A six-run first inning was enough to keep the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on the wrong side of the ledger as they came close but not close enough in an 8-5 loss to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. Francisco Rios only got one out in the first, allowing six runs on five hits and two walks with two home runs counting against him before Conor Fisk came on to threw three scoreless innings, stranding one and allowing only two hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Jose Fernandez gave up a solo home run among two hits in 1 2/3 innings, striking out one and Craig Breslow gave up a run on a hit and a walk in one inning. Andrew Case closed it out, allowing only a hit with two strikeouts over the final two frames.

The Fisher Cats had 11 hits and five runs, getting a home run each from Max Pentecost (2/5) and Cavan Biggio (2/5). Vladimir Guerrero also had two hits and a walk, going 2/4 with a double and two RBI but was caught stealing. Harold Ramirez was 2/4 while Jonathan Davis was on twice, going 1/4 with a walk, a run and his 10th stolen base. Juan Kelly walked three times, scoring once.

Dunedin Blue Jays, Lakeland Flying Tigers

 

Game postponed due to wet grounds.

 

Roster Notes: Angel Perdomo was activated and placed on the Dunedin Blue Jays’ roster and was scheduled to start the game.

 

Lansing Lugnuts 10, Dayton Dragons 7

 

The Lansing Lugnuts jumped out to a big lead, scoring eight times in the first inning and held on to that lead to defeat the Dayton Dragons 10-7 in the opener of their series on Monday. Seven of the eight runs came on home runs in the first as Brock Lundquist hit his first as a Lugnut with the bases loaded and, three batters later, they bases were cleared again by Chavez Young‘s first home run of the year in his second at bat in the inning. Young was 1/4 with a walk while Lundquist was 1/2 with five RBI, getting a sacrifice fly later in the game and getting hit by a pitch. Kevin Vicuna had another two hits including a double while Christian Williams was 2/4. Reggie Pruitt hit a double and Samad Taylor was 1/4 with a walk and three stolen bases.

Maximo Castillo was on the bump to start the game, giving up four runs on nine hits and a walk with four strikeouts in six innings. Donnie Sellers followed, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk despite seven strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings. Kyle Weatherly stranded two runners on with two outs in the ninth to pick up his first professional save.
